Love this shot, what's prettier the guitar or Brian? :D

What must it have been like in 1963 swingin' London and running into this guy and the rest of his crew on the street? Far out!

I presume this photo was taken at Studio One, although the piano player's chair says "JRS." Note the air conditioner on the wall (!!).

My first CD, I did all the drums with a single mono mic. An SM57, on a stand about 6 feet up and 8 feet back, aimed between the snare and the kick drum. Compression & EQ to balance the sound.

No photos, but here's a picture...

Here's a bunch of stuff I haven't seen in the thread...

Someone asked for a shot of Buddy Holly recording. There don't seem to be many... this is supposedly from Nashville in '56:

Here's Paul McCartney & Denny Laine working on the Buddy Holly cover album "Holly Days", at Rude Studios:

and a sweet vintage french documentary that shot at Stax & Fame studios in '69: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amo2PQKHmq4
around 4:45, there's an incredible section of them recording "Time Is Tight" (that I wish didn't end so soon)

Interesting that there are two mics - a Neumann tube condenser and a Shure(?) dynamic - in that Buddy Holly photo.

The photo of Booker T & the MGs above is very cool too. Note the placement of the mic above Al Jackson's kit - the snare is always very prominent on the records, with the ride cymbal somewhat suppressed. What's with the video camera mounted on the wall?

Just a guess: closed-circuit system, to coordinate players in both studios?

Great photos guys! It always makes me laugh when I see someone wearing sunglasses indoors (unless the person is blind, of course).

Back in my day, the assistant engineer would have gotten his butt chewed out for allowing the tape box so close to the phone!! ;)
