Why, because it can never live up to the high standards of the original series?

Will there be a working bathroom in the new series?

Great! With no more "broadcast standards and practices" in prime time, they can have everyone boffing each other. Something to look forward to, not.

More re-boots? Between film and Televisions recycling of older (or in some cases newer) ideas I don't think there will be any need to own a television except for watching material pre-2000.

Normally, I'm the first person to roll my eyes and make snarky comments at stories like this, but for some reason this doesn't seem like that bad an idea. The basic concept is solid for a family comedy and if there's good casting, writing and an occasional nod to the original, I say 'why not'?

It's not like they nailed it in the 70's...

Well, it can't be any worse than "The Bradys" was.

    (Okay, yes it can).

Sure they nailed it. It's THE BRADY BUNCH. The movies I enjoyed, since they had fun with it, so who knows.

Nothing original idea-wise on broadcast TV anymore, and this proves the point.

    Cable is a different story.

A good family comedy doesn't have to be 'original'...."The Middle" doesn't have anything we haven't seen a million times before, but it's done well.

Maybe they'll add sex, drugs, and rock & roll. Kind of a "Bradys Meet Breaking Bad" deal.

I'm baffled as to why the networks can't come up with new ideas, and instead have to ruin old ideas by redoing them badly.

To be fair, a potential remake isn't what ruined the original Brady Bunch. :)

I'm baffled, I thought everyone here was savvy enough to know that premises alone don't make or break tv series...execution does.

Were the concepts for "Everybody Loves Raymond" or "The Cosby Show" any more original than what is being described for this new Brady series?

Yeah, it may end up sucking, but the fact that there was a show with the same idea 40 years ago will not be the reason.

I dont give it more than 7 episodes before it's pulled.

  20. I want to see a completely faithful (non-campy) remake of The Brady Bunch, only shot like The Office, and other "pseudo-documentary"-style camera work.

    Half serious.

Eh? They didn't? It's the freakin' Brady Bunch . Whatever that they did do to the show, apparently did nail it for millions of people.

It sounds to me that the original show was never your cup of tea which is probably why you're so open to this reboot. I don't even love the original show to know that this reboot idea is pretty dumb.

I can already predict the dramedy type show they'll put together for this...it'll be like "Modern Famly" but with the Brady Bunch theme song in the beginning. That should do it.

I'm open to pretty much any attempt at a reboot when the original is 40 years old...if a concept is good, why not redo it in today's world?

I liked this idea better in the 90s when it was called Step By Step and starred my very first crush, Christine Lakin.

At least let them try it I say. If it fails, I only ask that they show:
Greg finally got his bike fixed
Carol Brady switches to decaf coffee
Mike Brady goes on one of the building sites where his plans are used
& Alice at a retirement home complaining about who she caught doing what at the Brady house.

It may have a great start like the updated Partridge Family show VH1 produced in 2004!

    Oy.

Why not just take the concept as described, and make it unconnected to THE BRADY BUNCH? Doesn't sound like it's hanging much on the original show other than the character name anyway. I'm sure the wacky, edgy idea is to take the wholesome Brady image and pi$$ on it, which is oh so renegade at this point.
