I hope that these releases will help her financially, although it'd be nice if it were a world-wide release. Looking forward to this.

  3. Sounds extremely promising! Complete Scepter (except for the Greatest Hits comps and the mostly studio Live in Paris), mono tracks, and the 1st CD issue of the 2-LP live comp Dionne Warwicke Story (featuring some great performances). Also great to see her underrated post-Bacharach 70s LPs get some love. Really looking forward to this...

  5. Wow! All I can say is it's about time, and long overdue. Whoever's responsible must be a serious Dionne obsessive, cause they've got everything here - all the mono mixes and live stuff, picking up the orphaned singles (on the chronologically correct LPs, no less), you name it.

Hopefully they did a good job with the audio. Even though I have all this in some form or another already, I'll happily welcome any upgrades. And if they stop here I won't mind at all - IMHO Dionne was great until she hit Arista and Manilow - basically jumping the shark at that point...

Something like this in the US and UK would be great for her reputation, particularly if the releases picked up some publicity from the UK music mags.

Wow. This is fabulous news. Some of the CCM reissues were horrible sounding, especially the Paris album. And the Rhino reissues are out-of-print.

This is a great way to revive interest in her music.

This could be interesting because most of Dionne's hit songs have only been available on CD in stereo. The product description also mentions the inclusion of single mixes where applicable.

I am excited about these reissues.

I will be seeing Dionne on Monday night as part of the "Unique Lives & Experiences" lecture series in Toronto.

Well, the CDs will contain both the stereo and mono version of the albums. They are short enough.

  14. Looking forward to this...it's what Apple should have done with the Beatles catalog 4 years ago...release BOTH original mono & stereo mixes of their albums on the same disc as two-fers!!!

23 albums = get ready to part with $500+.

And a compilation is also coming together with the albums.

Wow! Hopefully a company like Ace will get the rights to these at some point.
Also, are the mono album mixes for her hits definitely the same as the 45 mixes?

she's underage, go away now, and I promise not to tell her father :D

I think it's a little late for the Dionne Warwick releases, outside of a niche market, I can't see that anyone would care

One question is: Are better tapes available than what was used for the Collector's Choice Music reissues from a few years ago? Those were of miserable sound quality.

Dionne remains the best interpreter of Bacharach/David material....I can't think of them without thinking of her....

I see your thread didn't last very long, and this one will die soon...unless Jackasses, such as myself, keep it going with ridiculous inane comments

Andreas, I've got a few of those old SEQUEL discs of her material, some of which are mono, some are stereo and some mix both and they also have sound problems. The ONLY time that I've heard Dionne's stuff sound top notch on CD, was on the "SCEPTER RECORDS STORY" box set (where are the master tapes they used for this, I ask?) and on some of Bill Inglot's discs on Rhino, but, many of those tracks were remixed! I certainly welcome the "idea" of both the Mono/Stereo full albums on CD, (although I will probably only buy a few real favorites of mine, thanks to the high prices of these Japanese discs) and I'm hopeful that they will be of high quality sound, but, I've certainly got my doubts, with past experience, that they will be?

Yes, I know stereo versions will be included on the CDs as well and that is a nice bonus given the short lengths of the albums. However, as you know, the stereo versions of many of Dionne's songs, in both the original mixes and as remixes, have been available for years. The real interest for me is having mono versions of some of her songs in digital format. I've heard several of her songs in mono and there are a few I actually prefer in mono (her lesser known single You Can Have Him is one).

Regarding the stereo mixes, I was struck by this wording in the product description: "Following Valley of the Dolls, each album is heard in its original stereo LP mix." Perhaps I'm reading too much into this but I wonder if this suggests that the stereo versions that will be presented on the earlier albums will include remixes.
