I am into compiling my personal PAST MASTER VOL. 3 & 4...one in mono, disc two in stereo.

"Got to Get You into My Life" is the first that comes to mind, the mono and stereo each featuring different vocals at the end.

 

It is on the 2009 remasters though. This is for what was not included there.

@slane: You are right - I want to include only songs not released on the 2009 remasters.

 

These are in fact different mixes. As far as I can recall, the Australia release is unique to the later 45 and the Australian "23 number Ones" LP.

Yes, the Australian mix has the vocals on the right, the German mix is similar to the official mix with centered vocals.

 

Ok. So the Australian mix is the more interesting variation I think

 

but what about "You Can't Do That" (different US mix in mono) ??? Just compared the 2009 version with the capitol Box set version and besides a different mastering job, both sound identical to me...

 

I think it was probably just a case of making 2 identical mixes one after the other, rather than making a single mix and then copying it for the US. Same levels etc, but technically a different mix. If there's room, include it anyway.

I am not sure about the original single version of PPM, compared to the mono album....whilst I recognize some differences on "Ask Me Why", I think PPM sounds almost identical...

The five sections of harmonica are overdubs. Although it could have been done by recording harmonica into a complete second generation tape, Lewisohn, in Recording Sessions, refers to "harmonica edit pieces", and it sounds like there is an edit before the last of them. They were certainly used as edit pieces for Please Please Me [2]

There is no known difference between the two mono mixes. The Vee Jay single is early enough that it must be the older mix. I assume blindly that the later mix is the one used for all subsequent appearances including the CD single, but possibly the CD single uses the older mix.

Of course, but as I remember, all tracks have overlaps with dialogues or any other noises...they are mono mixes ???

Hmm. I thought the 2nd-state Vee Jay LP used the 'dry' 45 masters for Please Please Me / Ask Me Why.

 

It's a laudable effort, I suppose, but what's the purpose here? To put into one recorded document the rest of the extant versions which haven't come onto CD yet?
Or to put into one place all the variations of what Apple Corps has already determined has already christened as "canon" by anthologizing?
Or - and here's a good reason for a comp - to assemble from documented chart action, the best of the best, in an order that beats the order of any other comp out there?
...because, ya gotta work pretty hard to bring something fresh to the table on that account, and if you don't...then what's the real point.

Not crappin' here, honest - I just want to know what the motive is.

Here's something I've never quite been clear about... You listed the A and B-sides of the 2nd UK single, but does P.S. I Love You (B-side of 1st UK single) have a dry single mix too?

 

Stereo, mixed by Ron Furmanek, and they are complete without dialogue (except the title song, it has that John narration in the middle). They've been bootlegged.

 

Very easy to explain: I want to compile all mix variations which were released on LP, single or CD around the world...no rough mixes or unreleased studio takes here. And, of course, this one is for my personal collection only. As I know, there are many Beatles experts here, so it will make things more easy, cause I don't own all the original records from other countries to compare etc.
If you don't see any meaning in my project, it's your point of view. Most annoying comments here are always replies without really interesting informations and details, but personal statements about the sense or whatever. Thx.
