Great News. I adore the "Recorded Live" 2lp set/cd. A really strong compilation. Amazing "I cant keep from crying", "One of these days", "Slow blues in C".

    Thanks!

Odd to see Positive Vibrations chosen as a deluxe edition, but too bad all live tracks seem to be from the previous 1973 tour, and not from 1974 which the album is from.

Does anybody else know anything about these? I have not been able to find anything on the Alvin Lee or Ten Years After web sites.

I don't think there was a 1974 tour. TYA was on the cusp of splitting up when they made that album (and it shows).

They toured part of the year in 1974 as Ten Years After and part of the year Alvin toured solo. http://alvinlee.com/gigography/gigs74.htm

They are playing near me this weekend. Why would anyone want to see them without Lee? I mean, what were they without him?

The new lineup isn't bad-- frontman Joe Gooch is a great guitar player, and they have done two albums with him. The other three originals aare there.

I saw them last month. You get 3 original members plus a very talented guitar player and they played faithful renditions of their classics songs. Leo Lyons was particularly impressive on bass. I enjoyed the show. But if you viewed Ten Years After as Alvin Lee and 3 other guys then you probably should pass.

I haven't seen them since Alvin died-- are they doing any kind of specific tribute or at least saying anything?

    I agree 100%.

I love the new band/lineup but it is a very different beast without Alvin singing/playing. If you like good "classic" guitar-based rock you should enjoy the new band but if you have a "how dare they claim to be TYA without Alvin?" attitude (like some of my friends) it'll probably just piss you off. Leo Lyons is quite incredible to watch btw. Don't understand why he never really gets that much acclaim/recognition.

I don't recall any mention of Alvin but with his British accent Leo could have said something and it would have gone right over my head. My show was a multi-act show (Canned Heat, Pat Travers, Rick Derringer, Edgar Winter, TYA) at a venue with a strict 10:30pm curfew so all the bands just hit the stage and pretty much roared through their set list.

Did you see the weird USA pricing on these?

Amazon US has the new Recorded Live for around $15 but wants around $35 (!) for Positive Vibrations.

PV is available for much less at Amazon UK or DE (both RL and PV cost the same thing there, around $15 or so each when you take the VAT off).

They must have finally changed the price from when they first posted the preorder.

If I remember correctly, they played 3 or 4 songs from it during the 74-75 tours.
