List your top 10 (more or less) punk songs.
Pick them to define the genre as you see it and/or your favorite and/or you best of list.

    Blitzkrieg Bop – Ramones
God Save The Queen – Sex Pistols
    London Calling – The Clash
    New Rose - The Damned
    American Idiot – Green Day
I Wanna Be Loved - Heartbreakers
(Can't Get My) Head Around You – The Offspring
    American Jesus – Bad Religion
    Babylon's Burning - The Ruts
Alternative Ulster - Stiff Little Fingers

For whatever reason I had a hard time. Mostly because I was limiting it to one song per band.
Also I kept it at 10 (I think I could have defined the genre with a few songs, or I could have added a bunch), I excluded pre 1975, new wave, grunge, alternative, and I am not really into hard core. Don’t let that stop you from including any of these if it suits you.

Very difficult defining a whole genre from so many countries; here a try:

    Dead Kennedys: 'Holiday in Cambodia'
    The Ex: 'State of Shock'
The Ramones: 'Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue'
    Blur: 'Song 2'
    The Undertones: 'My Perfect Cousin'
    Flipper: 'Ha Ha Ha'
    PIL: 'Public Image'
    Iggy Pop' 'Lust for Life'
    Nirvana: 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'
    Wire: '12XU'
    The Wipers: 'Doom Town'
    The Stranglers: 'No More Heroes'
    Jane's Addiction: 'Stop!'
    The Jam: 'That's Entertainment!'
    Nina Hagen: 'Unbeschreiblich Weiblich'

As you see even some songs with acoustic guitars, an organ, some reggae dub and even a cello... :)

Not a huge punk fan beyond some of the usual suspects (Clash, Stranglers, Ramones) and a few singles by other bands, but I'll add this. Probably too obscure to be genre defining, but I've always loved it and that's the only excuse I need...

Wimp by the Zeros (sorry about the ad, if you're getting that for 30 secs at the beginning).

this ( The Victims "Television addict " ) , together with the Zeros masterpiece
you add " I m Stranded " and strangely enough my 3 favorite genre defining punk classics come from very remote cities ( Perth , Brisbane , San Diego )
