UK!!! I need those extra tracks that aren't on the US version. I can hear Paint It Black in other places...

I had a nice sounding German stereo LP that I recently got rid of. I wanna get a UK mono at some point

  3. Yes, I like it especially because it sums up my feelings about the U.S. version of the album....:D

This thread is making me order the UK version from HD tracks to compare to the US version I have.

I voted UK, like them about equally but since the UK is longer, I'll go with that. May have been stretching things in the days of LPs though.

So how about the whole mono vs. stereo question here? As always, I like the additional clarity that stereo brings to the instrumentation, but the mono mix has considerably more bite. An expanded deluxe edition for Aftermath is long overdue. They really need to have something along the lines of what they did for the Kinks klassics--include both stereo and mono, along with the various singles, b-sides and outtakes from the period. Maybe then more people would recognize Aftermath for the game changer that it was in '66.

A+++ Post. Aftermath Deluxe Edition :edthumbs: I burned my own copy with the single a & b sides and session tracks from the Flowers LP. I would also like the mono & stereo versions + outtakes.

It really should be called the English version, not UK! :)

I would go with British Version.

The back of the UK just says "Decca London" and
the fact that it was printed in England

The disc itself (on a red mono) says Made in England.

    So I stand uncorrected!

the problem for me with "Going Home" as the closer is that one is tempted to say "I'm done" and stop listening. When it's the Side 1 closer, in the middle of the album, there's more of an impetus to sit through the whole thing before flipping the record (or going on to the next track).

And there's so much good stuff to play on side 2. And then you get to flip it back over (or push play) and start again with "Mother's".

The gift that keeps on giving, is the UK Aftermath.

That's the whole point of putting it last. I'm rarely in the mood to listen to that one, and I'll bet I'm in the majority on that one.

At least Love were nice enough to put "Revelation" on side 2 of Da Capo all by itself. Can you imagine if it were track 3? Pandemonium would ensue!

I voted U.S. because it's what I grew up with. It's like a familiar blanket.

However, I sure love the sound of the old "London" cd of the U.K. version.

I am unaware that there was a different version of the album in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, which, along with England, make up the United Kingdom. And, I have no doubt that record stores on Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, which are neither part of the U.K. or, indeed, the European Union stocked the "Made in England" version. I prefer the U.K. album, BTW, because I grew up with it.
