  2. You can't go wrong with any concert at Massey Hall. One of my fave venues! I last saw Keb'Mo' and Boz Scaggs there, before moving to Calgary.

Poco, Leonard Cohen, Ricky Skaggs and Ry Cooder, Murray McLauchlan, Gordon Lightfoot, The Kinks, Ray Davies, Ron Sexsmith, Gordon Lightfoot, John Prine, Bruce Springsteen are just the first ones to come to mind.(OK, maybe not the Kinks - not one of their better shows in the early 70s).
I remember Leonard did Red River Valley as an encore.

Only saw him once, mentioned him twice for some reason!
Also saw Neil Young in '71 - different night from the released record.
Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe and Mink De Ville were great too.

I've never been within a hundred miles of the place but it just seems like this album should be mentioned:
The Quintet - Jazz at Massey Hall
That would be Bird, Diz, Bud, Mingus & Max

Massey Hall is hallowed ground. So many memorable shows over the years. Laurie Anderson, The Pretenders, Diana Krall, Jann Arden, The Tragically Hip (front row), Sam Kinison,
Sinead O'Connor in 1990 was incredible. The venue was absolutely packed. My sister and I paid 100 bucks each for front row upper balcony and it was worth every penny. Nothing Compares To You had just gone number one everywhere. When the intro of the song started the crowd erupted and wouldn't stop. Sinead started to try to sing and broke down crying overwhelmed with the emotion of the moment which brought even louder applause, then she nailed it like everything else that night. It was one of the greatest concert experiences I've ever had.
Pink on the Missundaztood tour - she performed in an orange prison jump suit, sang every note. I remember a teenage girl standing on the seat waving a t-shirt over her head singing her lungs out and I remarked to my wife that this wouldn't be the last time we'd see Pink. Sure enough we've seen her three more times, once with my two daughters, and we are going to see her again in March but nothing has topped that Massey show
Blondie - the No Exit tour. Front row. Absolutely stunning show. Debbie took her sunglasses off at one point and made eye contact with me and I saw those eyes and my heart heart skipped a beat.
Miles Davis - 1990 - couldn't find anyone who wanted to go with me so I said "eff it" and went myself. Just prior to the show starting I hear a cheer and look around and there is Harry Belafonte walking down the aisle and he and his significant other sit in the seats pretty much right in front of me. He blows a few kisses to the crowd and waves. Miles tips his horn to him during the show. I had tickets to see Miles the following summer but when my date and I got to Massey there was a sign on the door saying that Miles was ill and would not perform. He passed away not long after.

I saw the Stooges there on The Weirdness tour, with F**ked Up opening for them. Amazing show. Seen the Pixies there twice. King Crimson this year was also fab. Lots of great memories at that place

I got to see the Neil Young concert Demme's film crew captured for Journeys. Would have loved to be there for a Rush show! Brian Wilson playing Pet Sounds with Al & Blondie last year was quite memorable also

Lucinda Williams with Levon Helm, Lyle Lovett & John Hiatt, Paul Simon, Jane's Addiction, the list goes on...

Was just going to post this one. My favourite Canadian band. They recently played Massey again - 2016 - but there's only 45 minutes online. I can't wait to hear their new album as the new songs are great live. We need a Rheostatics thread.
