Good thread. I originally bought some CD issues from the Paul McCartney Collection series with the white inlay and the original album cover in miniature (released in 1993, I believe). They are OK but when I had the chance to compare with an original 1980's CD in the case of Venus and Mars, I preferred this earlier version. It "breathes" more easily. It seems to have a better dynamic range. I then replaced copies of WATSOS, RAM and Tug of War. In each case preferring the original. I aim to replace all. I have heard that the Paul McCartney archive series is good too but don't own any to compare.

I really like the DCC discs, especially Ram, Band On The Run, and McCartney.
They're a improvement over the original discs as of dynamics and sound.

I tend to lean toward the DCC versions overall as well, then all of the unlimited hi-res remaster files that have been released that way, then the "Fame" series that don't have an unlimited hi-res version yet... and whatever for all the rest because I rarely listen to them anyway. :shh:

For those Macca albums that I listen to:
    McCartney - DCC. No question
    Ram - Archive series
Band in the Run - DCC. No question
Speed of Sound - both DCC and Archive series are good. Depends if you want a more analogue (DCC) or digital (Archive) sound

The Archive series in general has a very digital sound IMO. Sometimes this works, e.g. Ram, othertimes it doesn’t, e.g. Band on the Run and McCartney.
