Out of order! I get up early to get what I want as I'm a collector and have been for above 40 years. I'm not getting early to grub for stuff to sell on e-bay, I'm getting there early to ensure I have a chance of getting what I want. And I DON'T buy from Amazon. I support my record shop. I don't consider m'self to be part of any problem. If anything, those of us who do buy from record stores are trying to fight the onslaught of tax-dodging companies putting independents out of business. If you feel you're missing out, get your lazy **** out of bed.

  3. At home, listening to whatever I bought on Friday. :p

I'm not keen on the whole RSD thing. I saw the list, and I'm not high on anything there, except maybe DEVO at Max's Kansas city. Why should I pay a premium for a colored reissue of unknown quality when I can get an original for at worst $12 for most titles? I can get a dozen or so used LPs for what would only get me two or three RSD titles.

And if I go on Friday, those titles I'm really after will be more likely to be there.

RSD is NOT for regulars only. It's for anyone willing to stand in line and purchase according to RSD rules and ground rules set up by the store.Flippers paying up front,I despise them, too, but if they go through the hoops, even pay others to do same, just make a living-(insert your Supreme Being here)love 'em,the hapless, souless folk.Drawing new junkies into the mix, that's a part of it,too.RSD is a celebration of the brick & mortar indie mom & pop store trying to keep afloat in 2014 after being left for dead by Best Buy & Wal-Mart and constantly beaten up by the internet.Regulars may keep the lights on the rest of the year, but new blood is needed or the place will be boarded up.

If the Manifest in Charlotte is like the Manifest in Columbia, they are under the FYE umbrella, and do not participate in Record Store Day. They used to...Hopefully they are. I know that Manifest used to receive Record Store Day stuff, maybe three or four years ago. I was in the Charlotte location Saturday. Much better vinyl selection than the Columbia store. You should at least check. I would recommend Lunchbox.

I'm not sure... I'll have limited opportunity to go record shopping. It looks like most of the Manhattan stores will be participating, so I'm good.

There aren't any must-haves this time, so it's not a priority.

Fingerprints in Long Beach, CA gonna call ahead of time and see what they plan on having.
Now that the LB Grand Prix is on a different weekend, it's possible to get to the record store
    on Record Store Day.

Really? I'm surprised by the amount of people saying that this April's offerings are less enticing than previous RSDs. My ‘wants’ list this year is daunting and supremely unrealistic (much like the letters we used to post to Father Christmas). Well above the four hundred quid mark if I could afford everything I desired. I keep having to ‘red pen’ loads off it. Maybe I’m just lucky – or unlucky – this year, depending on your point of view.

If you find yourself inside a record store on Record Store Day, you're not "part of the problem".

If you don't want to participate, don't participate. It's purely voluntary.

Jazz Record Mart huh? I wouldn't have thought of that. Any idea if they get a good selection of releases? How big of a line do they get there?

I was planning on hitting Reckless but they can get pretty crazy. I'm hoping the Easter holiday weekend might keep the lines down a bit.

It's usually not much, and they tend to pass on the Classic Rock / Indie Rock stuff, but I've had good luck there before. Mostly because it seems to be the store that everyone forgets about on RSD.

I'm gonna be on Captiva Island in Florida with my family. Doubt my wife will be cool with me sneaking away to Ft Myers for the nearest shop. (But I've gone so far as to find one.)

Easter's on Sunday, but all the big community egg hunts are on Saturday, so as not to step on the toes of those who wish to go to church.
