I love them both but went with Blues Brothers. Seems to hold up better...

Never been able to sit through the Blues Brothers. Have seen Caddyshack about 1000 times, and it never gets old.

Just re-watched Caddyshack the other day for the first time in many years..... and man, it's nowhere near as good as I remember. Didn't laugh once.

Same here. It was one of the available movies on a long-haul flight I was on a few weeks ago and I hardly cracked a smile. Even 3 Scotches didn't help. :(

None of which I care about. Caddyshack has its faults but the Blues Brothers is just a big noisy mess, and Ackroyd is just riding Belushi's coattails......(opinion)

Caddyshack all the way. I hurt from laughing the first time I saw it. It was the #1 most quoted movie among my peer group (class of 1985). I have the original movie poster. Blues Brothers bores me. I tune out every time a musical number starts. I'm not into R&B or Soul music. Sorry. I know how that offends a lot of people on this board.

Blues Brothers should forever rot in hell based solely on the fact that I've had to endure hearing the film version of "Soul Man" at least 70,000 times over the last 35 years. :disgust:

This poll is like asking me if I like blondes or brunettes....

I didn't vote. I can't, they're both comedic masterpieces I love equally. I would love to write & direct a nutty comedy film of the caliber that these two have.

Both are comedies that are a carefully orchestrated string of gags. I personally find Caddyshack the tad more coherent of the two, but I really cannot choose one over the other.

I see The Blues Brothers has a slight lead, I kinda feel since this is a music-based forum it's likely to get/maintain the edge.

So many comedy films today do not make me laugh like these did (save for many of the Zucker/Abraham/Zucker films, or films they worked on individually). These are just classics in my book.

The fact that you are not into R&B should explain your dislike of a movie based in R&B. Not liking R&B shouldn't offend anyone on this board since everyone has their own opinion and tastes.

I personally will take Blues Brothers over Caddyshack. I still laugh out loud when I watch it.

    I dig ‘em both.

I'm more impressed with Caddyshack-----all those funny guys getting laughs pretty much equally----Ted Knight is every bit as good as Bill Murray!-----I get the urge to watch it more frequently than the car chase/music spectacle of The Blues Brothers.

    But they’re both great.

You're right, it shouldn't. But just look up a couple posts from mine, and the number of likes it got, and you'll see where I'm coming from.

Honestly I do know it happens. I see it in every forum I belong to. But fact is no one should get upset by others likes and dislikes. But unfortunately they do.

Ah yes, Animal House -- the nexus where Blues Brothers (Landis) and Caddyshack (Ramis) meet.
