Nice, I just read the review of this in the new Stereophile. Five stars on Music and Sonics. In fact they mentioned Wilder and Marlowe specifically for doing a great transfer job.

Another nice Free Bop outing from the little label in Corvallis Oregon. Engineered by the drummer at his studio. Always a tough and admirable task, especially when good results are achieved.

Blakeslee is also heavily involved in Vinny Golia's Nine Winds circle.

Mastered by Dave Trenkel, who happens to play in another band that does an Electric Miles thang, whose sax player is a friend and who happens, by pure coincidence, to do some landscaping for us. Ah those musician day-jobs. Oh, and who was on OPB last night as part of Oregon Art Beat. What a tangled web.....

Rob Blakeslee Quartet: Last Minute Gifts

    RB: Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Percussion
    Michael Vlatkovich: Trombone
    Clyde Reed: Bass
    Dave Storrs: Drums, Percussion

A nice wake up call. It's too bad Lem Winchester didn't record much. What I've got/heard, I've liked.

Never saw that B&J flavor before. My wife likes Jimmy. I'll have to surprise her with that. But she'll have to listen to Trane or Crimson when she indulges. :uhhuh:

Lee Morgan - Candy (yet again.... LOL) A beautiful recording. Lee just sounds so smooth. It's remarkable to me how talented he was at 19.
