Well, not exactly everybody hates, but I do consider two favorite of mine on minority tastes.
To me there are two classic examples, and based on this forum preferences, or unless what I have read about them:

Genesis- A Trick Of The Tail

I have read enough about how many fans dislike the moment when Peter Gabriel left the band and Phil Collins started to manage the lyrics and sounds of them, but this is by far my favorite album Genesis did.

    Elton John- The Big Picture

Here we go, you have tons of great albums by him, yeah think even on your top ten, and I am sure I am minority here, Big Picture is easily in my top 5 albums by Elton John.

What's the story? The Wikipedia entry for "Angel" does not have anything necessarilt heartbreaking.

Jethro Tull "A" (first side in particular is a masterpiece).

Yes: Tormato (remove Wakeman's cheesy synths and a somewhat odd production and you have some top-notch songs).

Depeche Mode: Exciter -- unfarily maligned, Gahan was reaching a peak in his arranging, witnessed in Paper Monsters a few years later.

Judas Priest: Turbo --- fun songs with great guitar licks - more consistently enjoyable than Screaming for Vengeance

Thin Lizzy: Renegade -- the only credible complain I've read about this one is Phil's weakening voice. Yet when you match his weaking voice to the lyrical content, his voice makes perfect sense. Gorham/White are so underrated and craft amazing harmony/counterpoint guitar lines.

311 "Uplifter" -- (similar to Yes's "Tormato" -- Bob Rock's cheesy production tricks turned off many fans to what are some of Hexum's best songs).

U2: "October" -- the same yearning (and sometimes overblown) Bono we've come to love/hate with the years, but the CRUCIAL difference is he's signing about saving the man inside himself, not the world at large. Fiery playing and a fantastic rhythm performace from Clatyon/Mullen Jr. that would disappear after Unforgettable Fire for the most part.

The drums were recorded after Hendrix had died. Mitch Mitchell had to go in and basically play to the backing track (which wasn't completely in time) without any other rhythmic accompaniment. Just given the nature of the song and the situation, it was said to have been a pretty emotional session...wanting to do right by the song without having Jimi there.

There are loads of fun tracks on Come - Pheromone and Loose! are great fun.
Have you ever heard the original test pressing mix? Some interesting changes to the track list - a few from the Gold Experience and the Come tracks from the finalised album tracklist are mixed differently.

Kiss-Unmasked. I love it. Does it rock like a Kiss record should? Absolutely not. Is it full of pop-rock gems? You betcha. Easily in my top 5 Kiss albums. If you hate Kiss but like 70's pop-rock then you owe it to yourself to give this a spin.

    Don't talk crazy! :p

I like Unmasked quite a bit, myself. It's got some catchy pop songs. I was introduced to the songs back a few years when I caught the Sydney 1980 concert on KISSology.

The horns on "Come" starting at about nine minutes in is one of the most beautiful bits of music that he has ever released. Every time I hear that part I can't gelp busting in to a huge smile.

"Papa" is a fairly unique song for him.
