Why is The Beatles' "Rain" so often praised as some of McCartney's best work on the bass?

    Thanks for responding. That is what I thought you meant. I never thought of his playing on the song along those lines though but you are right...he does that a lot on the song.

    I'd like to think that if you could have put McGuinn, Crosby, Entwistle and Moon into a recording studio in 1966 they might have come up with a sound similar to the guitar-based trax done by The Beatles in that year.......
