Grateful Dead Two From the Vault

I have the original 2 CD set. I noticed there is a newer release that has the additiona third CD of late jams. Has anyone compared the sound of these two releases. I have the jams as bonus material on Anthem...

 

I have the 2004 HDCD remaster on rhino. I don't have the old copy anymore (gave it to a friend), but from memory the new version is a bit brighter. It may be a tad louder as well, but when played with an hdcd decoder, that goes away (they must've used the peak extend feature). IMO, you don't really need to upgrade, but you could always buy the new one, listen to both, and then sell off the one you don't like as much.

 

link? Are these the 8 track studio jams that were issued on the expanded Aoxomoxoa?

oh, ok.....the Alligator > Caution filler is from 8/23/68, while 2 FTV is 8/24
