As it doesn't play Blu-Rays and doesn't appear to be networkable I don't see it as competition to Oppo machines

Pretty. Seems like a good potential. But is this available in the US?

Let's see....CD/SACD only? In silver? From Pioneer?

It will never be available in the US.

Here's another gem for under $500 that's not likely destined for the US:

  7. It looks great but I don't think it's intended for the North American market.

Does the US have something against silver components?

I don't know why manufacturers only offer silver components in the US on such limited basis.

US seems to be hung up on black stuff these days. Actually for quite some time now.

Pioneer sure has made some fine CD players over the years, I still have my ancient Elite PD91, PD 93, PD 75 & PD 65. All have a wonderful voice unique to each..... all things considered.

My main player right now is a lowly multi player Elite DV 48-AV.

But I've made tons of DVD audio discs - my entire music collection, basically. No DVD audio? Forget it.

They are the absolute king in mobile high end decks. My Pioneer P99 deck has 4 burr brown chips and CDs sound amazing.

US consumer electronics marketing thinks we do. Personally I love silver components and would pay more to get this option, which is what is slowly starting to happen.
We can now order silver directly from Japan, many Japanese retail outlets are available on US Amazon. To get the silver, we must pay for the higher overseas shipping rates. In the case of the Pioneer player above, shipping is approx. $146.00.

I just bought a used Pioneer DV-79AVi Universal player that sounds fully as good on high-res material as players much more expensive. So yeah. when they choose to, the big boys (like Pioneer) can put out killer gear at reasonable prices.

See my post above. You can find ones on eBay for $100 to $150 that sound great on DVD-A (along with SACD and do a more than serviceable job on CD). The DV-79AVi really does make high-res material sound superb.

That TEAC looks nice. I'm sure it has a bit of trickle down technology from the Esoteric line. The TEAC CD3000 looks to be an even better choice.

What surprises me is that, even today, manufacturers (like these TEAC's) still don't tell us if their players keep DSD native or convert it to PCM........ Given the market that they are being marketed to, I don't understand why?

The TEAC web site doesn't tell you much about anything

Pioneer Elite has sold Gold components in the past, in North America. Who knows....???
