Yeah Reb, it's on the "Websongs 2002" bootleg cd - I'd post a picture of mine, but I don't see the option for posting a pic anymore!

well, I agree but Todd in his 70-75 run was pretty stellar too

And I think Prince has zero talent, as they say "if we all liked the same thing the world world be a boring place"
We could not be more polar opposites.

    Couple of things:

    1) Pete seemed to be alone among his peers as being a more-than-competent recording engineer.

    2) Are we certain the Who never recorded "Women's Liberation" or "Can't You See I'm Easy"?

Not sure about *certain*, but I've been told only demos exist. My understanding is the LLR project was shelved before it was finished.

Ah, OK, that's what I assumed. Those are such great songs that I was hoping at least a rumor of a Who recording existed.

Ah, that's from the South Bank Show, 1985 I believe. Love that clip.

It was always interesting seeing Pete in non-Who situations.

Pete's Quadrophenia demos, as released in full a couple of years ago, are superb and it's the first set that makes me think he exceeded The Who. Had he left the band and completed and released these on his own in 1973, the recording would have been much better than it was. In effect he outgrew The Who by this stage (not before), IMO. E.g. this:

Brilliant, perfect (and for once great-sounding guitars after Who's Next).

Very interesting. I've never seen this. Pete kind of holds back I think, but I like it.

Always preferred Pete's demo. I never thought The Who captured the vibe of this song.

Townshend himself obviously holds FACE DANCES in high regard. Well, the songs for FACE DANCES. He has released many of them on the SCOOP albums and others have been 'around' for years ("Another Tricky Day", "Daily Records" etc).

I have been a fan of Pete's demos for decades. Still I am more amazed at which demos he hasn't released. The "I can see for Miles" demo is really good. And The "Rael" demo is one of my all time favorites.

I put the songs from Lifehouse (plus My Wife from Rigor Mortis Sets In) in the Who's Next order and Townshend's vocals get really annoying about halfway through. Going Mobile. Daltrey is sorely missed.

Pete's demos are good and all, but what the other three did to his songs made them epic. For example, Put The Money Down. Only The Who could sound like this!

Those live videos Keitfspoon just posted were from the '82 Prince's Trust show. Pete was part of the house band. He backed Kate Bush at that show as well.

Entwistle did his own share of home studio recording. Check out the bonus tracks on the remastered CD's. A few of John' s demos are included.
