I'm no fan of mindless Summer blockbusters. Nor am I a fan of monster movies. Maybe it's a product of my age (43).

But, even I have to admit this movie looks intriguing. I may even take my son to see it in the theater.

I'm definitely not going to watch bootleg footage, I'm happy to wait until the movie is officially released.

I saw the trailer for the first time the other day. I thought it was a movie about 9/11, until at the end the title, "Godzilla" appeared on the screen.

If they somehow tie this in with 9/11 the way the Japanese tied the original with atomic bombs, I think this may be a powerful, dark and grimly exciting movie.

Have you noticed the great horror movies are always about something else?

Of course this scene from Cloverfield has to be mentioned in regards to 9/11 imagery >>>

Yes, the last part of that scene could be documentary footage from 9/11. Wathing those images confirms that Cloverfield is one of the greatest horror films of all time.

I will not recant my statement no matter how much you torture me.

The same "insider tracking" that they use to predict the opening box office for every major release these days, what that entails I haven't a clue. But these days the estimates are almost always very close.

I was happy because last night I saw the original. I would supply a picture but this seems no longer an option.

Lotta guesswork from the Variety people. We should go back and see what their estimates were on Lone Ranger. :sigh:

I hope Godzilla is a good movie, but I dunno... I'm not getting that out of the trailer, and I'm so tired of remakes.

I still say this is gonna be a big hit. I think it'll clean up overseas.

Oddly enough, Bryan Cranston has been the only weak thing in the trailers. I thought he was brilliant in Breaking Bad, but his acting in the trailers kinda made me cringe. Hopefully, seeing the performance in its full context will be better.
