Pigpen isn't on the upcoming DAVE'S PICKS release, is he? Wasn't his final show at the end of September 1972? I wonder how he sounded at that point ... my favorite Pigpen stuff is on the EUROPE '72 tour.

Amen brother! formulaic set lists, very little "deep space" exploration.... you can have one run of shows and have just about everything they played for the entire year. Gorgeous sounding Betty's with lots reverb and Jer's Travis Bean tone keep people salivating for sure but its just not deep enough for me most days. Good "Starter" year that I always direct people to but you graduate quickly....

Pigpen only played organ & did not sing at the 6/17/72 Hollywood Bowl show, which was also the first time they rolled out Stella Blue, FWIW...

Pig's last show was essentially the last show of the Europe tour--Strand Lyceum 5/26/72...

Nice added bonus. It took me about 30 seconds to get my order placed once I finally got the email today.

Yeah, I was hoping for the 11/18/72 Hofheinz Playin' to be included, but I'll take 11/15/72 instead. I wonder if this suggests the possibility of the Hofheinz shows being released as full shows in the future or merely confirms that they aren't in vault?

I caved and ponied up............not easy, as I had to pay sales tax due to the state I'm in. Price ultimately seemed steep. But, I watched the Lemieux seaside chat and then saw the 11/15 filler.......that was what did it in ultimately. I have never heard set one, so, there's that

If you are a fan of the Grateful Dead's music, can you have too much of 1972? I'm not sure you can.

I am even more excited about this release now with the filler added. And completely agree that the artwork could not be better. Any chance of bucking the trend of switching artists every year? The artwork on the 3 releases this year seem to be getting better and better, which is to say nothing of the music.
