I like to think of this as John Lennon's "great lost dance single". I can see him doing a "spazz" dance in a film clip for it!
Do the Oz, do the Oz
Do the Oz, babe, do the Oz
Do the Oz, do the Oz, babe
Do the Oz, do the Oz, babe
Put your left hand in, your right hand out
Do the Oz, babe, dance it all about
Do the Oz, do the Oz, babe
Do the Oz, do the Oz, babe
Do the Oz, do the Oz, babe
Pull your right leg up, your left leg down
Do the Oz, babe, shake it all around
Do the Oz, do the Oz
Do it, do it, do the Oz, do the Oz
Do the Oz, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do the Oz
Throw your left wing in, put your right wing out
Do the Oz, baby, spread it all about, ow!
    Do the Oz
Well, do the Oz, yeah, do the Oz
Well, do the Oz, now baby
Well, do the Oz, now baby
Well, do the Oz, now baby
Well, do the Oz, now baby
    Do it!

Pretty cool little tune actually. The lyrics aren't of any consequence, but the general vibe is very rock 'n roll.

I think the other side of the 45 was, this side was pretty much a fun throwaway.

I like this one, great groove, and Yoko doesn't detract from it either.

Mainly because this time Yoko kept her vocal effects in the same key as the band.

Rather with George Harrison's very own "Zig Zag".

What inspired this thread was thinking of this song with its cool riff and imagining Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band doing something like this. You'd have to slow this track way down to get John sounding as black 'n' bluesy as the good Cap'n, though!

I'm guessing this was recorded or overdubbed about the same time as Nicky Hopkins and Bobby Keys doing overdubs on the live version of "Cold Turkey" for the "STINYC" LP.

Do you think if Autotune was around in the late 60s we'd all be Yoko fans?
Yoko IN TUNE? Just imagine the possibilities....*shudder*. :(

I wonder if it took a lot of mental effort to come up with the comment above. Or if it was just an effortless flash of "brilliance".

And no doubt the Pinwheel Twist. Where's Pete when you need him?

I love the A-Side, even though Lennon doesn't sing lead on it. It's a great song.

There is a version with John doing the vocal.

Yeah I know. It's on one of the box sets. Bill Elliot does a good job, though. He deserves more credit for that track. It's an underrated one. Of John was on vocal when it was first released, though, it might've done much better.
