Excuse me, do you own the 'Back to Black' album by Amy Winehouse?
    Do you dig the album?

How many copies/pressings of the album do you have now?
How many copies/pressings of the album have you owned over the years:
    records, cds, digital downloads, ...?

I have Black To Black and some flacs of her doing a selection of ska tunes. The song Back To Black itself is a modern day classic. It reduces me to tears these days.

Love this album I own it on vinyl, I should get her first album one of these days but I have to say I've not heard a female vocalist since that has released an album this true and soulful, record companies have been trying to find the next Amy Winehouse but the the majority are just shallow and fake sounding to me.

I mean Paloma Faith seriously they are so desperately trying to capture that lightening in a bottle but they all just sound tame in comparison. Adele is fine enough but Amy had something that you can't copy, that tragedy, that truth you believed her I don't hear that in anyone else around these days.

While I'm not going to go as far as to say it's on a par with Dusty In Memphis (not many albums are) but it's the closest we've got to it in a long time.

Such a damn shame she didn't do a Bond theme, the Barryesque title track my favourite Winehouse song hints at what we missed.

None for me, although I think a few of her songs are pretty good.

Nope. Her retro sound is not for me...I'd rather just listen to the music that inspired this.

Only Back to Black (on vinyl).

I heard Frank and didn't like it so I didn't buy it.

Same here. Got two different versions of Back To Black though. One regular UK (I think) with Addicted as the last track, and the strange deluxe 2CD set with a faulty CD 1 mastered at a very low volume.

I love Back to Black, but can't listen to Rehab anymore without feeling a little sad.

I actually bought Frank the day she passed. Like some of it but not as much as BtB.

Only "BtB" as UK vinyl. Stored in a "BtB" carrier bag that was given away in stores when it came out!

    Great post, Spin.

I think Amy had a real musician's sensibility, and a real sense of musical history that augured well for a long-term career...if she'd been only been able to survive the "growing up in public" phase.

Has anyone mentioned that today is the third anniversary of her death?

Me too . . . and I "dig" the album very much. In fact, it's one of the very best from the first decade of the 2000s.

I don't hear much of a quality difference between the U.S. and UK lp, although other threads suggested a huge difference (basically bought the same album twice) :-(

I think 'Back to Black' is one of the best albums of the last 10 years. Amy was immensely talented, and it's tragic that she left us so soon, but she sure burned brightly while she was here.

I have it all. Vinyl & standard and deluxe CD for the main albums, plus CD copies for her post mortem releases.
She and Jack White are my favorite artists from let´s say, the last 12 years. Back to Black is nothing less of a stone cold classic.
    What a rocksteady goddess.
