Rocky Horror was also pitched as a Saturday morning cartoon once (by Nelvana, I believe?) - it got as far as character designs, some of which didn't look too bad, especially Frank; though I seem to remember Brad being turned into a giant dumb oaf with a beanie cap. No explanation for that.

Someone needs to try a "Forgotten Cartoons Based on Video Games" article as well...... I feel like I'm the only person who actually watched the lone episode of 'Bubsy' when it aired. XD

    "What could possibly go wrong?"

(Repeat that about 20 times... There's the cartoon). :)

Hmm, that's weird about the Karate Kid one. It says it only aired for about three months, but I remember the intro pretty vividly and feel like it was around for a much longer time.

    Clerks the animated series

    from Wiki
Only two episodes were broadcast on ABC in the year 2000 before the series was canceled. Several factors contributed to the cancellation, including low ratings, the show's not fitting in with ABC's other programming, unsuccessful test-screening to older audiences, and ABC's decision to air the shows out of order. ABC aired the fourth episode first, as opposed to the intended first episode, and then aired the second episode despite the fact that the second episode is the 'flashback' episode, and derives much of its humor from the fact that it flashes back to the first episode. Additionally, the second episode aired without the scene from "Flintstone's List", the fictional RST Video rental that spoofed Schindler's List.
All six episodes were released on DVD (as well as VHS) in 2001, marking one of the first occasions in which a short-lived TV series found success in this format. The DVD commentary features cast and crew who frequently cite their disagreements with the network over the show's development. The entire series was eventually aired on Comedy Central, with the unaired episodes airing for the first time on television on December 14, 2002.

If I was a kid I would've only watched Rambo and Robocop. Amazingly, Police Academy also had a toy line and a comic book series from Archie Comics.

    *sigh* The Clerks cartoon...

And now, the more or less unanimous opinion is that this deserved SO MUCH more. It really did.

Someone beat me in the discussion in that article, but I thought of Beetlejuice, too.

  11. That and The Real Ghostbusters were actually pretty good, as I recall.

The ones that made money in toy sales are the winners. Rambo for instance.

It probably was. It seems like a whole lot of '80s toons were only in first-run production for a short time, but kept lingering on the airwaves much longer in afternoon reruns. (And yeah, I'm the same way with KK - no recollection of the show itself really, but I can hear the theme song in my head without even checking out the video.)

There was apparently at one point going to be a cartoon series based on Terminator 2: Judgment Day. I've seen it described as being "A boy and his pet Terminator".
