Some of my records are that flexible stuff that is hard to break and isn't really vinyl. It wouldn't be fair to call those part of a vinyl collection.
I call it a record collection. It isn't just LPs. There's singles in there as well. And CDs too.

It would have to be records for me, not all are vinyl, or LP's, but they're all records!

  4. I refer to my vinyls as records.

They have always been records to me. I guess the other terms are in the strict sense but I never use them.

I say I'm a record collector; therefore my collection is comprised of records. :)

I have a vinyl collection, a CD collection, a DVD-A collection and an SACD collection. So it all comes down to what my audience is asking about - unless they want to see my MUSIC collection!!!!

To me, any recorded disc, be it CD or LP or even tape formats - are records. The noun is derived from verb "to record".

Therefore, I have collections of LPs, CDs, singles, and cassettes - and all of them are records. So when I refer to the big 12" albums, I call them LPs.

    Record albums.

LP would be my second favorite and is the one I'm most likely to use when writing here. It distinguishes them easily from other formats.

Stax O Wax, hahaha! Didn't know it was possible for other people to add choices to vote for, I'm laughing at that one though.

I call them "Vinyl Records" as not to be confusing. I will sometimes just call them records because most people know that you're talking about the big black discs when you say that. I don't call them LPs because to me a CD can be an LP, EP or Single depending on the length and variation of the tracks.
