    Sansui fan here, as well

I have an AU-7700 that i love...it has 2 phono inputs, 2 tape inputs, 2 aux inputs and a tuner input!

...so I use my Empire 698 with Soundsmith cartridge for my good albums, and a Dual 505 for the old scratchy ones. with a flick of a switch. handy

plus my smartphone/media server hookup, CD player, and a dual tape deck. haven't got a tuner yet, keeping my eyes peeled for one

(not mine, a pic from the web):

also have a Fisher 400 but it's in the shop getting overhauled. can't wait to get it back

Doesn't seem to be anything on that site about them. Do a Google search and you'll see a lot more.

The sound of these Sansui receivers should handily blow away the iPod ...

Sansui had some really beautiful, great sounding tuners back in the day that would match that amp nicely.

As a matter of fact, there is a TU-7700 on eBay right now for $195, though I believe it might need some work. Still it would be cool to have a matched set. I have two Sansui receivers, and the tuners in those eclipse the tuner in my Denon HT receiver quite handily.

ah, cool thanks...i will check it out

I probably should get a TU-7700 to match the amp....but I really dig the look of those older tuners with the round green dial!!

I rarely ever listen to radio though, hard to justify the $$

    McLover's Laws:

35-50 WPC the best happy medium. Better sonics, simpler circuitry, less damping factor leads to best sound. Powerful enough for most reasonable needs.
The less IC chips in use, and in tone circuits, the better the sound.
The less ceramic caps in tone circuits, the better the sound.
The only IC chips which should be used are in tuner front ends.
No STK or other modular output blocks should be used.
1966-1973 for most common Japanese HiFi the best years, they had some quality to them back then. Post 1973, cost cutting was becoming prevalent.
There are exceptions to these rules.
Collect thy good Sansuis while thou may. Their 1967-1969 efforts are worth love and care.

Besides the resto-modded Fisher 400 in my main system, I recently picked up a couple of solid state receivers for my secondary systems.

From Craig's List, I brought home a minty 1978 Pioneer SX-780 in perfect operating condition. All the lights and meters work, all that it needed was some contact cleaner. Not a bad deal for $50! I'm using it with a Pioneer PL-15D and a pair of Pioneer SP-BS21-LR's (also off Craig's List) in a corner of the living room.

I also recently picked up a minty, serviced Yamaha CR-1020, which I am VERY impressed by. That one is providing service in the basement with a Dual 1219 and a pair of Pioneer SP-FS51-LR's (I like the new Andrew Jones-designed Pioneer speakers a lot).

Yup, I actually prefer the sound of my older, lower powered 45 WPC STA 90. It phono section has more noise than the STA 2080, but the Aux input is just lovely sounding.

This could be my favourite...its arriving tomorrow, and probably will add to it some Kirksaeter monitors as well.

Currently enjoying some late night Diana Krall on my Marantz 2238B. I love this thing. You should hear the new Beatles mono LPs through it! Bought a fully restored one off eBay five years ago but only really started listening to it about a year ago.

I also still have my fully functioning Sony STR-6055 I bought at the PX in Wildflecken Germany in the early 70's. :)

    (not my pic)....

I'll be taking delivery on one of these beauties in the next 10 days; a completely restored Sansui QRX-9001 4-Channel receiver, my personal favorite from the '70s.

I used to know a guy who hooked up Klipsch Cornwalls (?) up to it. Gads! One notch on the volume control and you couldn't hear it. The next notch it would empty the room. It was not a match made in heaven. I wonder what the max SPL would be if that thing got opened up.

It was probably made in the US or Japan. I still have a made-in-Japan HK preamp I have been listening to since 85 ... :righton:

I saw Kirksaeter speakers at the NY Audio Show years ago. I have no idea if Kirksaeter is still selling its audio gears in the US ...
