Wow, it looks great. I loved the magic of Midnight in Paris, this one could follow. Can't wait to see it.

Comes out tomorrow - may not have time to catch it this weekend but will try during the week if its playing anywhere near San Diego.

Getting pretty poor reviews. 57% on Rotten Tomatoes (62% among "top critics").

A lot of the reviews seem to make the argument that Woody needs to stop trying to make one film per year and focus more on quality over quantity.

Looks great, but don't watch it unless you want the entire movie ruined!

    Talk about spoilers...

I like whimsical Woody-lite - not everything has to be Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Looking forward to checking this out for myself.

As I've done for the past 15-20 years I will: reluctantly go to this movie; roll my eyes at Woody's tin-eared, stilted dialogue, rehashed themes and story lines, and stale jokes (if there are any); appreciate the art direction and the performance of the lead actress and the one or two lines that still have some snap; complain about how Woody has no fresh ideas and no clue how real people talk or behave; and then a year later go back and see the next one. I've come this far, why stop now!

An older man romantically involved with a young female. In a Woody Allen film? Whodathunkit?!?!?

That's a valid argument if the movies are flawed because he didn't have enough time to work on them. But I rather see a lack of creativity. It seems that Allen in now stuck to his recent formula (a more arty and intellectual type of romantic comedy, shot on lavish locations), which is commercially successful and usually gets favorable reviews.

On the other hand, his latest drama - Cassandra's Dream (2007) - was quite a disaster.

Jeez - reading these posters' comments on Woody... how many accounts does Mia Farrow have set up on here?

Ugly thread without anyone yet having seen the movie. I'm outta here.

Seems reasonable to me :) Every once in a while it would be nice if Cheech from "Bullets Over Broadway" came on to the screen and said "People don't talk like that".

Apparently I stand alone in the "Cassandra's Dream" fan club ... and equally alone in my lack of excitement over "Midnight in Paris".

Two years before, there was "Match Point", which is one his best dramas. Maybe it raised too many expectations.

That's "Curse of the Jade Scorpion", but thanks for playing our home game and be sure to see Johnny Olsen for a nice parting gift on your way out.
