The classic lineup of Atomic Rooster (John Cann, Paul Hammond and Vincent Crane) is all gone.

We all remember Billy Shears' tragic 1977 riding lawnmower accident, but is everyone else from the original 1947 lineup of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band still alive?

Couldn't help but notice a nice juxtaposition. The placement of your statement in print gives the impression it's just been spoken by your avatar.

  5. not to be premature but after Barry Gibb goes there will be no more of the Bee Gee's left

OP specified "of the rock era." To start earlier is to descend into irrelevance. I.e., the first "major band" to have all its members die would be the first group of humans to publically make music together.

Gee whiz. I was trying to be cute and funny. I guess a lesson to me to read the post instead of just the title.

All apologies ... now back to the serious business of dead rock bands, no more screwing around.

Couple early members are still around. Bee Gees promo photos form the 60's had 4-5 members in them.

With the recent death of Shirley Temple only 6 living people are on the cover of Sgt. Pepper:

    Paul
    Ringo
    Dylan
    Dion
    Bobby Breen
    Larry Bell

WS Holland is 80 next year and he started playing with Cash in 1959.

Seriously? I'd say Jimi was insanely influential on a subsequent generation of guitarists, whether they could just pick up and play like him or not. In terms of "major", he certainly was if LP sales or concert earnings are your gauge.

LMAO. Hendrix not only influenced almost every major rock guitarist who followed, he influenced his peers as well.

The Ramones could play their instruments. Have you ever tried to keep up? The guys were machines!

And still do international personal appearances.

Is the "Alligator" lineup of Bill Haley and the Comets all dead? The band was a bit fluid when it came to members and Ambrose/Richards had left at that point.

Johnny only played down strokes on that material, so it's double the effort as some casual listeners think it does to play.

He didn't but just about every promotor did, so they were almost always billed as such on that final tour. Mike Jeffrey continued to call them that as well since he thought it was most marketable since everyone knew the name.
