According to the Camel, Amazon just dropped their price...This is only the second time they've offered it at a discount, the first being in May (same price then).
As mentioned above the site camelcamelcamel.com can be used to look at pricing history (also for UK, etc. Amazon, but, sadly, not all items), e.g., http://ca.camelcamelcamel.com/Stereo-Box-Set-The-Beatles/product/B002BSHWUU (I chose this because of its price volatility, no point picking a CD that has been $9.99 the entire time!)
cheap James Taylor LETTER cd $4.98 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...pf_rd_t=3201&pf_rd_p=1827489602&pf_rd_i=typ01 1. Everyday 2. The Letter 3. You're The One I Love 4. Rainy Day Man 5. Knocking 'Round The Zoo 6. Something's Wrong 7. Night Owl 8. Brighten Your Night With My Day 9. Kootch's Song
So I can see that last year it was half the price it is today. Hence Camel, it will give you "the hump".
Bootleg ! http://www.james-taylor.com/albums/bootlegs/ I wondered why it wasn't a part of his Official Discography. .
Pink Floyd - The Final Cut (CD + MP3), 5 bucks: http://slickdeals.net/?pno=126100&lno=1&sdfib=1&afsrc=1&trd=Amazon+com (was in stock but quickly running out)
The Kinks - Lola Versus Powerman & The Moneygoround, Part One [2 CD][Deluxe Edition]: $22.99 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LYX2TMY...UTF8&colid=7YPB9QMA99Z0&coliid=I2IN0E9AZC33IA
I agree 100%…I can see this for $17.00 or so at importcds once it's out and widely available…Maybe I'm way off but it's just a feeling I have...
The set is roughly $25 shipped from Amazon.uk and I agree that it will likely be available at a cheaper price from other vendors down the road. But for those who have prime and don't want to wait out shipping from Amazon.uk or deal with ImportCDs this isn't a bad price. If you don't like the price or want to take another route to buy it; great, it's your choice.
I'm in that minority whose favorite Kinks album is "Lola". This is a bit too costly but I pre-ordered it anyway. As we all have discovered, Amazon often bounces the pre-order prices all over the place and the low one will be the default when it ships. I will cancel this if if pops up a lot cheaper elsewhere. Now I'm waiting for lower prices on the upcoming 2-CD Zeppelin sets.
Breaking Bad The Complete Series on Blu ray. Dropped $58.50, 37 minutes ago, to $102.49. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/Breaking-Bad-The-Complete-Series-Blu-ray/ref=&%74%61g=%62l%75r%61y%2d032%2d20?SubscriptionId=AKIAIY4YSQJMFDJATNBA&tag=bluray-032-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B00I9PDXP2&ASIN=B00I9PDXP2&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Regarding GG Power and the Glory/Steve Wilson mix, I think you might be confusing the two releases. The higher priced one has video on it and the lower priced does not. Everything else is equal on the two. I need to score that for sure.
All of the Kinks Deluxe Editions have been in that price range, at least initially. And not that I have been watching them month in and month out, but it was my experience they've been remarkably resilient, in terms of pricing, for some time after their release date, even years. I can only assume that quantities were somewhat limited. By the time I had committed to obtaining the majority of the titles, I was looking uphill at $22-$28 for them, depending, for the most part. I was just thankful I could still score them at all.
Lola is a bit on the high side at $22.99, but the price could drop. I've pre-ordered it from amazon.com, so hopefully the pre-order price guarantee will work to my advantage.
I had pre-ordered it from amazon.uk on July 8th and right now my bottom line total is $22.83 and it is released one week before amazon US. So unless the price drops drastically here in the US, I'll stick with the UK order.
It will probably take a week or so to arrive. I'm going to order from US Amazon, that way if it arrives damaged it's easier to return.
