    Little Richard?

Seriously though, there's this thing about famous people where ordinary folks say - 'when you see him close up (usually it's a famous guy) he is really short.'

Maybe it's something to do with the circumsatnces we see these guys in. They seem larger than life.

    I think you are right.
I have seen/met for eg Tina Turner - Freddie Mercury - Madonna - I thought they were all shorter than I imagined they would be.

Ian Dury? although it may have been the result of his disability. Was 'Little' Jimmy Scott short? Brian Johnson from ACDC is also quite short I think. And so were original bass player and drummer.

Elton John and Bryan Adams are both 1.72m, which I suppose is fairly short.

Máiréad Nesbitt, fiddle player with Celtic Woman, is listed as being 5'2'' but she looks even more petite.

The shortest musician I ever met was Gerry Shepherd of The Glitter Band. Those platform boots must have been enormous.

I think the op is trying to prove to us that musicians that are considered short = musical geniuses.
