I look at these and I'm in awe. In awe of how much of an impact they had in the world of music and in the lives of many. When someone you actually pass's away that you know, it's even more heartbreaking and thanks Trixie for posting.
These have been fascinating to look at. I love some of the ornate engravings and bits of lyrics on them.
Max Roach is at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx and Clifford Brown is near you in Wilmington, at Mount Zion Cemetery.
I was reading somewhere that G.G.'S tombstone was stolen which is sad. Around 1989, my band almost backed him at a place in Miami called The Junkyard. From what I remember, he was on the lam hopping Greyhound buses going from place to place. He sent our lead singer (who set up the gig) with a cassette with a note saying "learn these songs." A week before the show, GG was arrested (thank God) and the gig was cancelled. I never heard of the guy before until we were picked to back him up.
At first I thought the same thing, but it's probably from people leaving full bottles as a tribute. The man liked his booze. RIP.
It is done very well. The picture doesn't depict it very well, but it is actually a circle with one side(visible in the picture)that is a short biography, and the other a list of his accomplishments. To be fair, that is Mr. Paul's mother laid next to him, Mrs. Evelyn Polsfuss
This is Fred "Sonic" Smith's grave. I guess I need to visit the Asheton brothers soon once I figure out where they are.

From Wikipedia: "Family and friends attended Winehouse's funeral on 26 July 2011 at Edgwarebury Lane cemetery in north London. Her mother and father, Janis and Mitch Winehouse, close friend Kelly Osbourne, producer Mark Ronson and her boyfriend Reg Traviss were among those in attendance at the private service led by Rabbi Frank Hellner. Her father delivered the eulogy, saying "Goodnight, my angel, sleep tight. Mummy and Daddy love you ever so much." Carole King's "So Far Away"closed the service with mourners singing along. She was later cremated at Golders Green Crematorium." So, is this the burial location or only a memorial?

The biggest problem in finding the graves of older musicians is many of them are still alive. Take a walk through most graveyards, you'll find many who died young.
Uriah Heep bassist Gary Thain who played on Demons & Wizards, The Magician's Birthday, Uriah Heep Live, among others...

Sid Vicious. From Wikipedia: Since Spungen was Jewish, she was buried in a Jewish cemetery. However, Vicious was not Jewish so he could not be buried with her. According to the book Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk by Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain, Jerry Only of the Misfits drove Anne (Sid's mother) and her sister, and two of Sid's friends to the cemetery where Nancy was buried and Anne scattered Sid's ashes over Nancy Spungen's grave.
