Yes..the movie you love to hate - "Forrest Gump is headed back to the big screen for its 20th anniversary — or, rather, the bigger screen. The weeklong September re-release will screen exclusively in Imax, with digitally remastered images and sound. Moviegoers will have a chance to reevaluate when Gump returns to theaters Sept. 5". I'm there. Not a perfect movie, but one I love. I have it on LD, DVD, BR. I was never a VHS collector.

I dunno. Gump is one of those films I think plays just as well on a 32" TV. Even then the historical footage with him inserted looks pretty bad.

I saw this on a 32' tall Cinerama screen (well....it didn't quite use the full height, so maybe 28' x 66' or so), and even on that size screen, the fake-ness of many of effects was quite obvious. Still very enjoyable, though.

At least they did not try for 3D, or maybe they did & it sucked.

Unless they go back and rework some of the effects with better CGI, then I see no reason to bother with this at all.

Gary Sinise's performance is one of the only highlights in the movie for me.

I liked Forrest Gump the first time I saw it...when it was called Zelig.

  11. It's a "good" movie, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what the incredible appeal of this movie is, nor the number of awards it received.

I'm not bothered that it was nominated so much, but surely there were better, more substantive choices that could have won the non speciality categories.

It's a mediocre movie, but it has both a really great soundtrack, and a fantastic film score too.

I resisted watching this movie for years. What a fool I was . I really enjoy the movie and watch it a few times a year.

Isn't it about time for the remake starring Channing Tatum?
