Bum. Those would have been fabulous episodes. I'd possibly even have remembered some of those. Cruel To Be Kind in particular is a real fave.

The whole list was legit at that point in time. But plans change...

That list originated from someone at One Little Indian, so that was before a deal was finally made with Hear Music and the current remaster series became the new plan.

Not yet the cheapest UK retailer then. There is someone they will need to undercut and I am betting they will, if only briefly, between now and the release date.

I just hope they don't do what they did with the CSNY set, ship all the pre orders and then slash another tenner off the price. That was a bit naughty.

Who might that other retailer be?

I had an email from Spin advertising the deluxe editions for £64.99.

In my experience Spin don't tend to alter their pre-release prices once advertised. That is still too much to me but if Amazon undercut them (which they will) to about £55, I'm in. Otherwise it will be the 2 disc editions for me which I would expect to be available from All Your Music for under a tenner once they are released.

They did something similar with the recent Bon Jovi New Jersey super deluxe. After it was released they knocked £4 off. You can't rely on this though, as they're just as likely to increase the price as reduce it..

I miss HMV.com who often were the cheapest around for stuff like this.

I suppose they might still be on YouTube or iplayer? BBC4 are not showing a lot of episodes from around this time as they were hosted by Travis or Saville. I don't know why they don't just remove the links (they were always awful anyway) and screen the shows with captions. Why should we be deprived of the music?

Agreed. I think it's a travesty. Imagine you were a one-hit wonder, you had your moment of fame on TOTP and won't ever get a chance to see it again because you just happened to be on a show that Savile hosted. It's a shame they can't just show the clips without the links, as you say.

Glad to hear a shout for All Your Music on here. I've had some incredible deals from them. New copies of old US albums go for a pittance!

not sure if this has been mentioned, but i'm pretty sure a photo exists of Paul with Jack Kirby that I really hope is included in the book for V&M. I think Kirby might have also done some promo art of Wings too? if so I hope that gets included as well.

It was in an issue of 'Beatles Monthly' when the single was released, courtesy of Mark Lewisohn.

Well, they've already edited Savile out of one edition of TOTP where he made a brief appearance, so it's not as though they haven't already altered the shows.

I'm sure those $211 prices for the SD boxes will drop by release date.

I'll get the boxes after Christmas on Pop Market. It's gonna be an import for me so it's murder.

I wonder if, when this thread flips over to Part Three, some kind soul on Page 1 might lay out the track-listings and link to the better-priced versions of both editions on amazon us/uk. It might be a public service for those who only check in with SHMF irregularly. Thanks!

"Venus and Mars/Rock Show" peaked at #12 on Billboard's Hot 100 and stayed on the chart for 9 weeks. "Pretty Little Head" did not chart at all.

"Letting Go" did worse than"Venus and Mars/Rock Show" peaking at #39 and only staying on the chart for 6 weeks.
