Go after Amazon. If they won't help you, threaten to close your account. Any smart business would try to avoid losing a customer.

I really must stay away from this thread for the time being. Mine will be here no later than August 5. Coming into this thread is just teasing myself.

Maybe try repackaging it and asking your postal carrier( I know you must be close friends:D) to mark it as delivery refused.

    Okay, check it out:

Amazon has shuttered my account. Permanently.

Just wanted to say thanks for the thoughtful comments on the Elizabeth Reed's with sax. (Not that there isn't plenty of other good material in the box, but everyone has their favorites that can sort of make or break the verdict on a big purchase.) Some good points made, and after all, it's not like I don't still have a few other performances on hand. I *guess* a little variety might be OK ... :D

I would not hesitate to go up the chain of command. Make sure you take lots of pictures. I would be surprised if, once you have gone up the ladder, that Amazon would not resolve this.

Somebody else was talking about how Amazon has won the war and is now raising their prices, and...apparently eroding their customer support.

If I removed the 45 years worth of Allmans recordings from my 50 year-old collection, it would be visibly apparent immediately. Esp., of course, the albums.

How is the GZ pressing on these? (GZ is not always good).
I wonder if I should cancel my order and order it at the USA

    I tried.
Wrote to Jeff Bezos hisself. Sent four photos. Here's the form letter I got back (although this one has an actual name attached). I can tell it's a form letter because I've never had more than one Amazon account, yet the "author" refers to "related accounts." It also reads, almost verbatim, like the response I got when I wrote to the aforementioned Account Specialist.
    Here's the e-mail:

    Dear Rock,

I'm Melanie Coleman of Amazon.com's Executive Customer Relations team. Jeff Bezos received your email and asked me to respond on his behalf.

Thanks for taking the time to write us. I've reviewed your account and understand you're concerned about your accounts being closed. While I know you're disappointed with our stance on this matter, I want to assure you the information you received from our Account Specialist is correct.

Please know we closely examined your account, your order history, and your related accounts to ensure that any decision regarding your account was made according to our policies.

I’m sorry for any disappointment caused and appreciate your understanding.

If you are a Kindle customer, you can continue to access Kindle content in the Manage Your Kindle section of your account (www.amazon.com/manageyourkindle). To access other digital content, visit the Your Account page and click View Your Digital Orders (www.amazon.com/youraccount).

Keep in mind that our decision regarding this matter will not change.

    Regards,

    Melanie Coleman

Just curious..what's not to like? I think the drums portion may be a bit long (like the GD at times) but the playing of the other members is fantastic (also like the GD at times! :))

Also have you explored the Instant Live releases from the past 10 or so years of the "new" ABB lineup? Great playing there also!

I'm very happy with the music I've heard, both the CD and Blu Ray versions. However, I have to agree with some earlier posts that the packaging is really disappointing. The design and content of the CD set is just so-so, and the Blu Ray is that same content shrunk down.

And couldn't they have made one set or the other the same size as the deluxe Brothers and Sisters? That set is smaller than the Fillmore CDs but larger than the Fillmore Blu Rays.

This also would have been a great opportunity to gather as many photos as were available to really document the band in this era. Look at this thread on the Les Paul Forum:

    http://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164645&highlight=allman

How great it would have been to have a lot of these photos printed on some decent paper...

For the vinyl? Sorry not going through 100 posts to figure this out. The vinyl from Amazon only gives you 7 songs -
    States/Somebody/Stormy/Don't Love/Hot Lanta/MoER/Whipping

They did a bang up job of mastering the vinyl on this version I felt. Went through about 1/2 of it last night and had a very big smile on my face listening to what was on it. The packaging was also top notch. Records came in a cardboard sleeve with an additional protective sleeve inside of that. All of that was inside of another cardboard box. The box it arrived in from amazon was HUGE! At first I was wondering what the heck I ordered to find that inside.

Agreed. Drums put me to sleep. Only drum solo that ever kept my attention was Neil Peart.

Your right about the Instant Lives. Some great material there. Delve a bit deeper and check out some of the live material from Gov't Mule. Especially the Halloween and NYE shows. They will really blow your mind. Warren can take Soulshine to a whole other level. Thorazine Solution is another great song. Maybe one day one of the lame Philly stations will give that a spin - HA.

Overall I am quite pleased with the remix, for me it's the best remix I've heard of an old album. It's very faithful to the original. Pink Capricorn Monarch GP will still be my go to version for the classic album since it has that tube mix charm and it's more dynamic.

The BD is one of the best reissues in the last few years in terms of musical content.

You do know I was just kidding around. I only do CD, so I can't say about vinyl or BD, but there is a bunch of previously unreleased music that is on a par(to me) with the LAFE release, so I'm over the moon on it. If you're not excited about multiple versions of tunes, I can understand that, suum quique

Honestly I don't know. I'm a slave to ABB vinyl live releases. They just show up. I've not been disappointed in anything I've picked up yet. There's always going to be a bit of a difference, not necessarily bad but different from any live recording to studio. It's more for the music I purchase ABB vinyl. Just so happens they did a fantastic job with this. The earlier RSD release also was great.

I was visiting my local record store and they had a ton of Zep bootlegs on vinyl. Passed on them and I'm a huge Zeppelin lover too. So many of their concerts were poor to say the least with the amount of consumed drugs and lack of energy it seems from the day. I've not heard any ABB concerts that I would go meh to. I miss them playing at the Mann Music Center. My teeth were cut there on them.
