It was only $2, so I figured it was worth a gamble. I'll try it out tonight ;)

I came across a store with several calypso & steel drum band albums. I've made three stops and have purchased 5 of them. They were all from the late 50's and all had autographs of the band or band leaders on the back. The weird thing is they were all addressed to different names.

Those are the kind of off-beat finds that make it all worthwhile. I found an obscure French accordion LP a while back that's great, and some goofy '50s organ records that always put me in a good mood.

Best of luck in all your travels, and keep reporting back.

I found a pristine copy of bill bruford s first elpee in a used record store for the princely sum of $1

Haven't played it yet, hopefully it sounds as goods as it looks.

There IS one Belafonte LP left at that thrift store. Maybe it'll still be there for me the next time I visit. :agree:

Well after a very successful week, the bike is locked up for my vacation to Disneyland.

Anyone know of any good thrift shops in the area? ;)

I got a very exciting find yesterday at an estate sale put on by a gentleman I'm familiar with that likes to jack prices.
He had advertised a sale that included a bunch of Beatles and Stones LPs. I didn't want to go, but did anyway as I had no other prospects for the day. I entered the house and found the box of records. There was a bunch in the box, all very early american release titles all beat to hell and with high prices. I was beginning to think I was wasting my time. He came in the room and saw me filing through them and said, "let me know what you like and I'll make you a deal." It caught me a bit off guard to say the least. Well, I continued looking till i got to the very last record, and lo and behold, there it sat, a beautiful copy of The Beatles Second Album. Still in the original shrink wrap with a Sears price sticker of $3.37. The cover was mint. I prayed the record was also. I slid it out and it was beautiful. Shiny, clean, and without a visible scratch. The price was $35. I held it up in his general direction and he said "$20." In that condition I was expecting and was ready to pay the full $35 since good Beatles vinyl in the Atlanta area are few and very far between. I couldn't get my money out fast enough. When I got home I popped it on the player and it sounded as good as it looked. Thanks Dan.

Was this purchase for the cover or the music?

Would that be One Of A Kind on Polydor? If so, I found one as well for 1 Euro, also pristine. Great record.

Name recognition. I was expecting some kind of Shatneresque ramblings set to music. Oh well, it's still a nice cover. :D

I found this really wacky three CD UK compilation by EMI from 2012. It has some interesting hits plus a disc of movie and TV themes and songs. It was only $7 from Half Price Books so I thought it might be worth getting. There are '70s and '80s collections as well it looks like from the inner booklet.

A recent real haul from a bunch of different places - at least 30 recordings from Goodwill and a Red Rack store. Listening to a green label St. Dominic's Preview right now and Jackie Wilson's not the only one in heaven right now.

I found two rather beat-up copies of Here Are The Sonics!! for 3 dollars each at an antique mall yesterday. They still sound brilliant though. I also found a 1965 Japanese press of The Rolling Stones debut for $1.50; no obi or insert but it plays pretty nicely, with some static issues, maybe it's the humidity.

Cool. I've been looking for the Beatles Second for a while. I find them but they are beat up and cost a fortune for vinyl that doesn't cut it. I can be patient.
