You're gonna have a lot of people asking you to redefine the word "prefer".

Never saw either and from all the reports I've read both are awful.
It will be interesting to see what sort of preferences emerge.

My guess is, simply because The Beatles are in it, MMT would be the 'winner' in a contest between two losers.

MMT really isn't nearly as bad as some would have you believe.

    SPLHCB is.

No wonder John Lennon lost respect for George Martin. Pepper movie is a fauxpas.

"Magical Mystery Tour" was an early attempt at a long form video and it has it's moments, but, watching that scene with the overweight lady being shoveled food by John, is most sickening, in my opinion.

"Sgt. Pepper" with The Bee Gees I watched once and once was one too many times, but, I get why it was made. You have to remember that around the time of the "Sgt. Pepper" movie, The Bee Gees, along with their record label, Robert Stigwood's "RSO", were both the biggest cash cows (make that cash "pig") around. The whole concept of The Bee Gees and all of the special guests in that movie, had to look like a brilliant idea on paper, when it was first thought up. Knowing that I'm always arm length away from pulling my BEATLES "Sgt. Pepper" album or CD off the wall, I have no real issue with The Bee Gees or the other special guests singing those songs. My problem was when they thought that they could act and then it all went to hell in a hand basket. With all of the $$$'s that both "RSO" and The Bee Gees were worth at that time, I'm sure that the movie just ended up as a tax write-off for them? I will admit however, that after the "Sgt. Pepper" movie, both the band and the record label slowly started their slide into the sunset.

So, I'd easily take The Beatles "MMT", but I have tons more guaranteed fun with "A Hard Day's Night"!

Ma.gical Mystery Tour is good fun with great music. It's not at the level of A Hard Day's Night or Help - not even close. But fun. SPLHCB is complete and utter rubish. This one's a no-brainer for me. MMT by a mile. And then some.

I first saw MMT ten years ago or so and barely tollerated it. More recently since my 5 year old daughter is obsessed with the Beatles I thought we should revisit it. The wife and I thought it was amusing and better than we remembered, but my daughter couldn't stand it. We didn't even finish it.

I tried to show my daughter "A Hard Days Night" but she refused to watch it because she "doesn't like live action". Go figure.

    I pick The Beatles,

  12. As as much as I hate to admit it, PEPPER is a lot more fun to watch than MMT. So I guess I prefer it.

Sgt Pepper is better as a movie, though MMT has better music and musical sequences IMO

I can't imagine watching Sgt. Pepper again. OK, so MMT isn't great, but at least it isn't too long and the song clips are fun to watch. And the beginning sequence with Ringo and his aunt is kind of amusing.

Magical Mystery Tour: Kids, don't try making a movie high on pot.
Sgt. Pepper: Kids, don't try making a movie out of your mind on cocaine.

    Hard to pick.

Nostalgia colors our memories and I have vivid memories of waiting in line to see "Sgt. Pepper" theatrically. I also remember how I was vaguely disappointed but loved seeing Steve Martin. Had the LP, a mylar poster of Steve Martin as Maxwell Edion and collected the bubblegum cards.

History needs "Magical Mystery Tour" but for my childhood memories to be complete, I need(ed) "Pepper." As an adult, I wastch "MMT" at least once a year. "Pepper," not as much. I like the scene with Alice Cooper more each time I see it, though.

True. MMT is actually worse than some would have you believe.
That said, it is better than SPLHCB.

MMT, even if only for the reason that, to quote Macca, "nowhere else do you get a performance of "I Am The Walrus"".

I base my calculation on this:

    Beatles>Bee Gees & Frampton

MMT is better because The Beatles are actually in it.
