A catchy pop song will always do well on the charts

"Fun Day" got a lot of play at the mall when I was in high school.

I have it on CD yes. One or two are good.

I love the song myself. It's a fantastic melody. I'm too young to have heard it day in day out on the radio at the time though. So I can take it without baggage.

My wife really hates it along with "Isn't she lovely" and judges him based on that. I played her "As if you read my mind" and she was like "Ohhhh..."

If you want to hate on pop music, make sure it's TODAY'S pop, not 70's or 80's pop as it was MILES AHEAD of anything the major labels are churning out these days....

    Just my 2 cents

Jack Black's famous opinion on "I Just Called to Say I Love You".

I never thought Jamiroquai had all that much in common with Stevie.

To focus on his "hits" is a mistake I feel....

The song with Babyface really left me flat. Stevie really oversang on that one.

I remember when Skeletons came out. Then - man, nothing. Really surprised he didn't keep having hits into the 90s.

My last truly fave Wonder song is "Overjoyed" - dang, I need to put that on a CD for the commute tomorrow.

I love Jay, but he ain't no stevie vocally, that's for sure. "Half the man" has some Stevie vibe to it, but that's about it. Most of Jay's stuff is jazzy disco/funk and I love it.

Anytime I hear Jamiroquai I immediately think of Stevie Wonder. Same as poster Mylene obviously does too :) I still dig Jamiroquai though, whenever I hear him. That stuff just makes me feel good.

Unfortunately true. Did he ever do anything good again after the car accident?

The car accident was in 1973, right? I would find "Fullfillingness's First Finale", "Songs in the Key of Life", and "Hotter than July" awfully hard to dismiss.

Oh, and I actually like and still listen to his most recent album "A Time to Love". It sprawls a bit, but there is a lot of good stuff on there.

Not really. There have always been schlocky (IMO) songs that became big hits...

According to Wiki, no - it didn't hit any of the US charts. #10 in UK...

Thanks. I couldn't remember when it was and didn't bother to google it.
