Wow, that was short! Barely 1:52...

  7. Should be interesting, but not exactly the "lighter" direction Scott was talking about when he released Bish Bosch, which I don't like much by the way. Having said that it took me about five years to appreciate how good The Drift was so there's plenty of time yet.
The clip they've released sounds good though. Not sure Walker's ever collaborated quite like this before.

I've been listening to a pre-release for the past couple of days. It is simply awesome. Terrific fall/winter soundtrack.

  9. Have you heard the whole thing?

Yep, listening now as a matter of fact.
Scariest thing I've heard this year - Throbbing Gristle and Einsturzende Neubauten comparisons are both accurate and lazy.

  11. Blimey! You lucky boy.
So it's not a return to The Walker Brothers sound for Scott then? :)

But I've been waiting for Scott 5. . . Another disappointment!

I'm surprised at how Tilt-like it sounds. My guess is that Sunn O))) have been fans for a long time.

Yes, I think it's pretty Tilt-like too. Amazing album all round - much more accessible and digestible in one sitting than Bish Bosch, I think.

My copy of 'Lullaby' cuts off abruptly after 6 and a half minutes though - is that the same for you guys and if not can anyone help me out my misery?

Scott back onstage? That would be an impressive development, to say the least.

They'd definitely have to market it right, though - I can imagine a marquee trumpeting "SCOTT WALKER with Sun O)))" and having hordes of baby boomers show up expecting to hear "The Sun 'Aint Gonna Shine Anymore" and other golden chestnuts, only to flee in terror and total deafness partway through the opening song. :p

That won't be a problem in the US.

    UK is another story.

  21. He says this EVERYTIME he brings a new record out! Then nothing! Nilch! I'd love to see it happen, but all bets are off. He's a wind up merchant that old Engel.

This new record is not available in the UK yet, is it? Seems like a few folks have heard it, not me.

I love Sunn O))) and have heard a bit of Scott Walker, but this looks to be like a great album. A live performance would be better than when Jandek started playing live. I like how he outright refuses to wear the monk robes, like they asked him.

And I suppose you just call the band Scott, not Scott-O, but that's going to get confusing. Maybe Sunn-scott was a runner up, or maybe Sunn Walker.

If you haven't heard Sunn O))) before, it really is music that needs to be played really loud. Stephen O'Malley's other projects are quite good as well, especially KTL.

Picked this up today - already kind of disappointed that it isn't a real collaboration. The booklet reads "all songs written by Scott Walker"! - so sunn0))) are just the backing band? They didn't get to contribute to the compositions? Bummer.
