I've been listening to the MC2100 pretty much non-stop, temporarily using an Adcom GFP-555 preamplifier until I get something better. The McIntosh is really smooth sounding - not quite tube territory - but close enough for me. For now I'll resist the urge to replace my B&W Matrix 805s - great sounding speaker but limited in the bass and dynamics department.

I use a C29 preamp with my 2105 amp ( both restored ) the combo is so smooth and musical that I call it tube like. I own a Fisher 500C and X-100-C for my tube fix. With the McIntosh equipment I use a pair of B&W Nautilus 805 speakers but added a pair B&W 608 subwoofers to fill in the bottom end. I really enjoy the McIntosh/B&W setup.
