Certainly the band themselves were 'smashed' on various substances during the 1965-67 period...

  5. Looks like my last EKG. I'm one of those who despise looking at graphs. I decide based on what I hear.

The LPs sound great considering they are from digital. Just like the recent Zep reissues. Neither sound compressed to my ears.

I have CD's for digital. I have no need for digital records as they serve no purpose.

  7. Well that's a conversation for a different thread but I have both the Beatles stereo CD and LP boxes. They sound very different. I like them both and the LPs doesn't have that cd digital sound. It can and frequently does work.

I hope this doesn't turn into an analog vs digital thread.

Even if it does, give it about 2-3 more days until it turns into an "my box has shipped!" thread.. Shortly followed by a "my box has arrived!" thread, which will shortly be followed by a "my review/opinion of the box" thread

I think that the "my box has shipped" threads are the best! I'll probably start a "my box has arrived but I'm going to leave it sealed" thread.

I like the "look how my box was packaged" posts, with pictures!

I'm holding out for the 24/192 modern stereo remixes.

As for the mono vinyl, my local said he'll have them Friday late afternoon.

The way it's compressed (limited?) to my ears. The mix has its merits vs the stereo at times, but I feel overall it's off in that way. Like it doesn't quite come to life. It's smooshed without sounding exciting from it. I play it once in a great while, and am happy to have such a nice old copy, though I usually return to the '65 stereo mix.

"Tone" here on his Beatles clip comparison page has samples from a stereo -5 side one. That sounds really good to me. I need to get a copy myself. I have no idea if there's a side 2 that sounds like it.

I placed my order a month ago, but I bet I would have saved a few bucks if I had waited until after release day. Bet these things will be available for purchase through the Christmas season at least.

I could keep them, but that wouldn't be fair to the other Beatles fans who wanted one and weren't able to get one. So why not throw that extra puppy up on ebay with a starting bid of $1000? Kidding, I'd return the amazon copy, or cancel it when my store gets it in. "Hey, these are way too big to fit in my cd player, what's the deal?"

Followed by the "I just received mono white album #xxxxxxx" which is when I always bail from the thread. I utterly do not care when someone's box shipped, or what number they receive. I mostly just want to listen to music.

For me, personally, I find the opposite true in many cases. I was relaxing and listening to my original mono white album Friday and totally absorbed in the music. It was dynamic and there was a presence to it. We all enjoy different music and ways to listen to music which keeps things interesting here.

I'm sure many already have them if my experience today was any indication.

I know plenty of audio engineers who listen from a musical point of view and still they prefer the sound of digital.

I don't agree with them - I prefer vinyl, but that's for another discussion.
