Wasn't "Sweet & 20" debunked as a VU song and turned out to be just an unrelated song title that had been submitted for copyright by a DIFFERENT Lewis Reed (or something like that)?

Pretty sure details are in the Unterberger book, but since the song title isn't included in the index, I haven't been able to verify my memory of that yet.

But in any case, I share your enthusiasm for the (probably unlikely, but we can hope!) prospect of demos to these stray songs. There is also the slim possibility that the "Lost 4th LP" version of "Sad Song" could surface.

I've never really liked the vocal version of Ride Into The Sun but find the instrumental version on the 'Another View' LP to be just brilliant, 80's mix and all. It's possible that it's a result me hearing the instrumental first, but with the vocal I just don't think it's that great a song.

Gosh, I think it's genius. The chorus is so beautiful, even the off key backing vocals.

And whatever side of this argument people fall, I think the solution is obvious-- include BOTH!

For those who (as me) like most the Ride Instrumental than the versions with vocals I can say that the new mix of the Instrumental version is superb!

I Can't Stad It will come with a little (very little) surprise ... The kind of things that we the fans enjoy

My thoughts exactly, as nice as it is to have the Matrix tapes they were recorded a full year AFTER the 3rd album - they've really missed the boat on this one IMO and tbh I'm kinda pissed about it. The live What Goes On from the boxset is great and I was really looking forward to having more of the same. Of course I'll still buy the 3rd album boxset but as my favourite period of the Velvets, hell one of my favourite periods of any band like I said I'm nae happy about this :cussing:

ALL the new mixes on the WL/WH box were superb, so I have complete confidence that's going to be the case here too.

Do you know if "Ocean" here is a remix? As I recall, it was the only one of the VU/AV tracks to feature a vintage mix when it was originally released. My strong instinct would be to leave that one alone, but I'll try to keep an open mind.

Wonder what the "I Can't Stand It" surprise is? Some studio chatter at the end?

Ocean new mix should please you. It preserves the idea of the original June 1969 mix but everything on it is much more clear

I'll get it but no outakes or live material from the time of the album? Gotta say I'm disappointed, this is by far my favourite VU album and I was really hoping for more from late '68/early '69 :disgust:

Same here. I've already got most of this outside of some of the Matrix tracks. Like the WL/WH deluxe, it could have been better. I might take a pass on this one. I will say that 36 minute "Sister Ray" is a monster, sexy as hell.

Hmm, let's hope they do a standalone of the Matrix, because there really is no reason for me to buy it for the other CDs.

Nice to have the 69 sessions and the Matrix tracks in one place. THREE versions of the 3rd album, though . . .

Is the mono a dedicated mix or a fold down?

Tweaked fold down, supposedly. It's my favorite version of the album, dark and luminous.

Weird if true. We heard details about new mixes of four or five tracks from Alfredovu. And it's not consistent with how they handled the material on the WLWH box.

All the track timings here precisely match VU/AV. But could the listing be wrong?
