I guess the most interesting part of this will be PH's reaction. What will he do? Reform Monaco? Revenge?

I loved "Get Ready", found "Siren's Call" OK but I think New Order without PH is not New Order.

I just heard a new interview with Barney. He said they already have 8 songs demo'd with vocals, and that it's more electronic and less guitar based than their recent records.

So far his reaction has been to post a picture of Bernard with a hand cursor over his mouth and attempt to make fun of Mute's name, or perhaps imply that only a deaf or daft record label person would sign the band without him being in it.

Of course it won't be the same without him, but it could easily be better than their last album with Peter Hook.

I would be happy with either Monaco or Revenge, I find myself listening to these over Electronic more often

Wow, good for you. I haven't heard many praise that one.

Personally, neither that or "Slow Jam" made the cut when I loaded GR into iTunes!

'Someone Like You' is my favorite track from either of their last two proper albums.

I'm always up for some more New Order.

I wonder what critical reception might have been for both Primal Scream's and New Order's albums if they had traded "Rock The Shack" for "Shoot Speed / Kill Light"

The worst part of this new album announcement is that it has drawn PH out from under his rock so that he can insert himself into the situation. The ship has sailed, Hooky, get over it.

Hooky seems like a sad dude these days.
Looks like he's touring the US soon playing New Order albums in entirety. :thumbsdow

I loved New Order live last year.. it was like a dream come true... and the crowd was into it... Barney, you could tell, was touched... I thought HE played most of the great guitar parts.. and even played some keys...

I'm always excited for new NO material... but I'm realistic too....

its sad Hook is no longer in the band and that he is constantly touring behind Joy Division and New Order albums but what else can he do? every new band he has started has been an abysmal failure... I don't think he'll start yet another one...he's a nice guy though.. met him after his DC show a few years back...and the Joy Division material (Closer plus a few hits) was great... but what made it REALLY sad is he doesn't even play the bass except on one song! he has his son play bass... apparently he can't sing and play bass at the same time.. I found that really really a let down...

That's not true, I've seen Peter Hook & the Light twice and each time he both played and sang simultaneously.

Considering their history after 93, it's a treasure to have these two albums. IMO there is a lot of great music in those two albums beside the aforementioned.

I just received Barney's autobiography in the mail this week. It is called Chapter & Verse and only available in UK right now.
