Some of these reactions to the Nintendo NES are really, really funny!

The same way anyone doesn't know what old technology is- because it's old, and has in most cases never been a part of their lives. They aren't stupid.

No, they're stupid. You walk into any Hot Topic in America and they have 8 bit Mario shirts and NES shirts/mechandise. How are you NOT aware what old Nintendo is. It's marketed insanely.

Any "gamer" worth his salt has seen this video:

  5. The technology's 30 years out-of-date...it's the same idea as a modern-day automobile driver trying to operate a Ford Model-T...if you aren't familiar with how it works, you're on a STEEP learning curve like these kids...

I'm sure there was selective editing for this video. Plenty of teens were probably just like, "Oh right, this is a Nintendo." and then didn't make the final cut. Pretty simple.

Also, saying "Nintendo NES" or "NES system" is redundant, because NES = Nintendo Entertainment System.

...and really, really hammed-up and over-acted by community theater wannabes.

Is that the girl that plays Arya on Game Of Thrones?

Seems all these kids know what it is, just that they've never seen one in person or sat down to play it. Not surprising since they were likely born in the 2000s and the system came out in the 80s. A few of them say they've played the games but on newer systems. I don't think that makes them "stupid."

And since one of the girls is actress Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones, I feel like this must be a video made with the intention to go viral on Buzzfeed. I'm thinking that most of the kids here are actors.

Correct. It's like PIN or PIN number. Number is included with the "N".

Hagstrom Please stop calling them vinyls.

These videos are cliche. Record players, Nintendos, rotary phones. It's all the same script basically.

They're likely actors. They're not quite stupid enough to be real teenagers. ;)

How many of you knew what a slide rule was on sight at age 15? If you are older than 50-something, you probably did. If you are younger than 40-something, you probably had no idea.

    Technology and time marches on.

One day, kids will say things like "My grandpa was telling me there was this group called The Beatles that were super popular a long time ago. Have you ever heard of a band called The Beatles?"

How is one not aware of:

    Records
    The Beatles
    The Who
    Audio CD's
(not my favorite band, but as a recent example) U2

Congratulations, you are slowly becoming like us "old farts".

  21. I almost always get a kick out of these videos - even if they're hammed up for the camera a bit, I think the reactions are still fairly honest - as well as the "Elders React" series.

Anyway, the NES-as-ancient-device thing makes me feel like a bit of a fogey, as I'd more or less abandoned videogames by the time that got big. I'm more of the 2600/Intellivision/Colecovision generation.

I still have my NES, and it actually still works... although sometimes it takes a few tries to get the games to load (just like in the video).

It's in a box in my basement, but once in a while I dig it out, hook it up, and take a trip down memory lane.... I think the last game I played on it was the original Dragon Warrior (which was mentioned in the video).

I'm as stupid as they are, I guess, I've never played a Nintendo game. Or an Xbox or Playstation, either. I played Tetris on my phone once.

Same here, though I did have a NES in college.

Have they done an Atari 2600 one yet? It's so old it's made out of wood!
