Yes. I use a Pro-Ject Record Puck/Clamp with my Music Hall MMF 9.1 and I think it tightens the bass. I also think it helps with less than completely flat LP's.

Yes with VPI. No with Rega. On my P5 it seemed to deaden the sound and reduce PRAT.

Nope. I'd rather spend the little money I have on records. My ears aren't good enough (yet) to notice a difference.

    I don't mean to brag, but I've got a Audio Technica AT-PL-120 ;)

  6. Always use the centre weight that came with the TT (Project RPM10) and an outer ring weight (TT Weights)on warped records. The outer ring is magic on warps and takes a couple of seconds to fit.

Hockey puck for me as well....super cheap and works like a champ. I do not use on on my Thorens as it's spring loaded

I'm a Rega guy (RP6) so ... no. I do have a KAB Record Grip but I stopped using it a long time ago (when I still had a Planar 3). I didn't really notice any benefit to it.

Yes. The one that came with my Clear Audio Emotion TT. I have been thinking about upgrading to one of their heavier ones.

    What he said.

Why are they so expensive. Seems like a simple chunk of milled billet aluminum

Same here, too. If the table came with a clamp (Yamaha TT500U) is use it, other wise, no.

  13. Yep. My Brinkmann Oasis comes with a nice one. It's pretty cool watching the record flatten once the clamp is screwed down.

Yes, I do. But with this Sota clamp, there is a definite technique to using it well.

I brought a friend over to hear my system. I played a short portion of the the first track of Eric Clapton's "Cocaine". I then stopped it and put on the inner and outer clamp to the VPI Scoutmaster. The second the music started he just started laughing. It made that big of a difference, even to his untrained ear.

Stillpoints LP1. Definitely sounds different than factory screw down clamp, which is also heavier.

I use the simple, inexpensive, but very effective JA Michell Record Clamp. A friend gave it to me as a gift and I'm amazed at how in flattens most warps, even some pretty nasty ones. It does wonders on dishing too. They're only about $50 and well worth it. Never noticed a difference in sound when comparing.

Some very differing opinions here. It seems those with more upmarket tables tend to use them those with more basic tables don't. I tried my gyro without but the felt washer was stopping the record from sitting properly. I could remove it I suppose.
