New to me of course! I have newly assembled a Garrard 301 with a Jelco 750L arm and a Denon 103 cartridge with a Zu audio aluminium body. A plywood plinth from Moldova, a new kokomo bearing and brass spikes for feet

Really happy with it. Excellent bass, detail and almost 3d presence.

    Thanks. I am.

I was hoping to somehow get a slate plinth made cheaply but that didn't look like everything happening :(

Lovely set up - it doesn't get much better!

Should have my 301 up and running sometime next week too :)

Enjoy your trip to the vinyl frontier ;)

A lovely deck, I have one myself. I tried a Kokomo bearing on mine for a very short while and didn't like it (I just prefer the sound of the original bearing), so I sold it, and the guy who bought it from me said it eventually put a big wear mark on the bottom of his main bearing shaft. This worried me greatly as this part is pretty much irreplaceable so I would advise stripping the bearing down quite regularly and assessing it for wear. I understand the Kokomo is now in MkII guise so things may be different now ( mine was the original version), but I'd still keep an eye on it if I were you.

Thanks again. That's interesting and worrying Tony. I didn't even try with the original bearing so can't comment on the sound difference. Maybe I should!

The Garrard is definitely a great deck :)
