"She's Leaving Home" and "Everybody's Got Something to Hide..." are easily my top 2.

My first proper introduction to the mono tracks were the Singles and EP boxes. The sound......coming right at you hard without the separation. The early stuff was meant to heard this way.

"A Day in the Life" sounds especially powerful to me in the mono mix of "Pepper". The singles, in general, tend to work well in mono also. We all love the mono version of "Paperback Writer" for a reason!

'I'm Down' for the punch. I couldn't figure out how to justify the $300 for the Mono cd set, then thought of how I'd always hated the way the rhythm section was separated in stereo, which watered down its impact, so I bought it for that primarily.

That's a good list but I would have said All of Rubber Soul as well. That and Revolver are the best mono records of all time. IMHO of course. :D

The only way to hear Paperback Writer is in mono. And that bass work is fantastic. The stereo version pales in comparison.

The drums and bass kick ass in the mono mix and sort of limp along in the stereo. The entire track is much more exciting in mono.

Comparing the sound of the 2014 analog handclaps to the 2009 digital handclaps, I hear a good example of analog superiority.

I was just grooving to the mono on "Hey Jude." I completely agree with you.

    Also, I love:

    Baby, You're A Rich Man

    All You Need Is Love

    Strawberry Fields Forever

    I Am The Walrus

  20. I've said it for a real long time: Well-placed handclaps performed by a small group of people are a truly beautiful percussion instrument. Digital handclaps may work well in a techno music setting, but I hate them in a "natural-sounding" music environment.

. Sorry, I meant to say that's why I bought the whole set. I might as well add 'I Feel Fine' and 'She Said She Said' while I'm here. The mono mixes do so much more for Ringo, putting him where he should be, front and centre.

totally disagree with she said she said. that track is much better in stereo with ringo's drums being much clearer. somebody stated earlier, when the vocals come in a lot of the impact of the percussion gets lost in the mix. it's still enjoyable in mono but....

Just got around to listening to Side Four of the White Album. Savoy Truffle and Cry Baby Cry are simply tremendous. Like hearing them for the first time.
