  1. So i assume the new album will come out soon after this collection.? Pitchfork quoted Visconti that's it imminent.

    Oh never mind.
    Visconti says cnn misquoted him.

So what exactly is unique to the 2 CD version vs. the 3 CD version? The latter has a 2007 Tony Visconti "single" version of "Young Americans" while the 2 CD has the original edit. Are there other tracks unique to the 2 CD set?

I think this sums up the problem for me! A compressed and loud record sounds "excellent" when comparing it to the CD!

Is it just me or does it not look like a Bowie single because its not on RCA?

The exact same thing happened to the Ted Jensen mastered Live Santa Monica '72. The 2008 CD has a DR score of 8 while the EMI pre-release promo CD of the same title has a DR of 11!

The Next Day LP isn't compressed!

it hasn't been peak limited like the CD and download, hence it sounds better than the CD and has a higher DR value, but the source is the same and the final mix has been heavily compressed. it is not a dynamic recording. the CD/download takes this compressed master and sucks out what little life was left.

No, the same image is at davidbowie.com with this text: "The Jimmy King photograph accompanying this item is one of the images being used for part of the upcoming Nothing Has Changed campaign.
Much more than that we cannot tell you right now, suffice to say, keep your eye out for next week’s NME (Issue dated October 11th, street date October 8th), which will feature an explanation of the artwork concept for Nothing Has Changed, among other things."

    Mostly tarted up remixes songs.
    Why bother.
A boutique Berlin vinyl box would be more appealing. Or a boutique Glam Ziggy/Sane/Dogs vinyl box would be very welcome.
Not his imo 80' shi and beyond.

Considering I don't want vinyl anything I'm quite happy with this box...a nice set of rarities and hits is better than no Bowie at all.

Interesting that this comp appears to be in reverse chronological order; amidst the many db comps, this is p'haps one of the only ways to make it unique.

If this collection is a tease for the new, brickwalled-free remasters, the set is a must-buy.

I digress, and this is off-topic, but none of the db remasters are 'brickwalled'. You may not like the tonality, etc. of them, but they are not even close to being obliterated by limiting. In fact they are positively tame in comparison to many other remasters. His albums from the mid-90s onward as they were released, yes (brickwalled, maximized, what have you) but neither the EMI/Virgin, Rykodisc or RCA optical issues are brickwalled.
