The Soundhouse outtake is even trippier.

Me too. It really should have been on the album instead of Gangland.

Im not sure why, but I somehow have always felt that The Prophecy is not in quite right spot in the album.
I like it and its indeed overlooked. Maybe because it does not contain catchy chorus but the ending is really cool..

That's great song and definitely one of the best from the debut album. Very moody and atmospheric song, I love it!

Fear of the Dark introduced me to Iron Maiden and continues to hold a special place in my heart, although in general I prefer Hallowed Be Thy Name and To Tame a Land to it.

Where do you think 'The Prophecy' should be placed on the album then ? I can't think of anywhere else it would work ??

From the epic section: Rime of the Ancient Marinet
From big hits: 2Minutes to Midnight
From dark horse section: Still Life

Hm, dunno, sometimes I felt that it just did not click with me but the ending of the song is great as it gets to The Clairvoyant.
I might have felt earlier that the song felt like little loose musically..compared to previous song Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son and the next The Clairvoyant.
But, as it's still continues the overall theme and story of the album, it should be there.

Too hard to pick just one. I believe each DiAnno and Bruce album has at least one awesome track I wouldn't want to be without.

I'm a sucker for a nice epic song so... "The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner" for me.

If I had to re-jig I guess it would look like this:

    1. Moonchild
    2. Can I Play With Madness
    3. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
    4. The Prophecy

    1. The Evil That Men Do
    2. Massacre
    3. Infinite Dreams
    4. The Clairvoyant
    5. Only The Good Die Young

Oh, you brought the Thin Lizzy cover-song from the b-side of Can I Play With Madness.
Also, Maiden's cover of Jethro Tull's Cross-Eyed Mary (from The Trooper-single) is really good and in my opinion much better than Tull's original song.

Agree, if I had to re-jig it needed something extra and I don't think Black Bart Blues would work  This album should have been a double though it tells a story but it is not satisfying and over far too quick although I do love it !!!

Yep, they should have done more careful work for the story and let that album be double. It's masterpiece anyways but could have been just little better. Like Nigel Tufnel would say "These go to eleven".

I'm not very fond of heavy metal, but I've always respected Iron Maiden. I think "The Rimes of the Ancient Mariner" is a true gem, and thank to it I got to know the works of the brilliant Samuel Taylor Coleridge. So, thanks a lot, Mr. Harris!

and what's really great about Maiden is one could make this exact same claim about at least 50 other Iron Maiden songs.
