Hot Rats has to be my overall favorite. But Absolutely Free has a special place in my heart and head--a paradigm shift for my suburban adolescent white bread self when it first arrived. "Brown Shoes Don't Make It"...a long time until I ever wore brown shoes again!

I love them all but these were the first three that I bought (in this order) and which totally turned me on to the wonderful world of Frank:

    Overnight Sensation
    Apostrophe (,)
    One Size Fits All

Uncle Meat is probably my favorite.

I also particularly like Absolutely Free, The Yellow Shark, Shut Up n Play Yer Guitar and Just Another Band from L.A.

  9. I would have to say One Size Fits All for a studio effort. . But for a live album it would have to be Roxy & Elsewhere.

If I can only choose one: Uncle Meat.
In reality, FreakOutAbsolutelyFreeLumpyGravyWereOnlyInItForTheMoneyUncleMeatBurntWeenySandwichWeaselsRippedMyFlesh, is my favorite 7 record set.
Frank is a catalog artist, it's hard to pick and choose.

Sheik Yerbouti. Its just chock full of goodness, but City of Tiny Lights is one of my favourite songs ever...the bizarre rhythm, guitar playing, lyric...everything is just what I want in a Zappa song. And there's Flakes, Dancin' Fool, Yo Mama, even Bobby Brown and Jewish Princess, plus the excellent what is going on here??? magic of Rubber Shirt...really, I know its hard to pick the best Zappa album, but I have, and its Sheik Yerbouti!

Zappa is my all time favorite artist by a mile.

His discography is so massive, so varied and so awesome, my favorite album changes all the time. I absolutely love Freak Out, Weasels, Bongo Fury, Zoot Allures, Roxy/Elsewhere, One Size Fits All, Apostrophe, Over-Nite Sensation, Shut Up, Sheik Yerbouti, Burnt Weeny Sandwich, Absolutely Free, Hot Rats, Lumpy Gravy, Grand Wazoo, Waka/Jawaka...

The Grand Wazoo and You Are What You Is are always at the top of my list. I think Wazoo has excellent fusion music, I prefer it to Hot Rats and I think You Are What You Is has some of Zappa's best satirical lyrics.
