My vote would be for them to not waste any more time repackaging the same old songs. Empty the vaults!

Fame was a number 1 hit, co-written by and featuring John Lennon, but was a Bowie single.

But we should remember that he had already been far more successful than John before John's death.

Ouch! Yeah, I suppose sales wise, but even that's a little questionable. I mean you can really only compare how they did from 1970-1975. Also if you are looking at which one of them caught the zeitgeist of the country/planet at the time, well then it's not really even close...

Hey were any of Paul's songs from Kisses #1 on the Jazz charts? I know the album was the #1 Jazz album for awhile... My Valentine, maybe?

    What about this...

In May 1989, a charity version of "Ferry Cross the Mersey" was released in aid of those affected by the Hillsborough disaster, which claimed the lives of 95 Liverpool fans the previous month (a 96th died in 1993 as a consequence of that disaster). The song was recorded by Liverpool artists The Christians, Holly Johnson, Paul McCartney, Gerry Marsden and Stock Aitken Waterman. The single held the #1 spot in the UK chart for three weeks.[4]

Nice except for Whatever Gets You Thru The Night. Ick. That one sounds like the end of a commercial break on SNL.

'New' by Paul McCartney, made number 4 on the Japanese singles charts.

I have also read that 'Fine Line' was a number 1 on the Japanese singles chart.

I didn't mean it as an insult to John, and many people believe that John's 70's work was superior to Paul's, I simply meant that it is an undeniable fact that Paul was far more successful on the charts than John, even whilst John was alive. John only had 1 number 1 in the US, and none in the UK, until after his death, whereas Paul had 7 US number ones, and one in the UK, which happened to be the biggest selling single ever.

    # 4 is unfortunately no help, but Fine Line is a cool track to add!

I don't know if I could handle it without "It Don't Come Easy", my favorite solo Beatles single !!
I also liked "Meat City" as a B side, used to play it ALL the time...

Well, I think the concept could go very well with the mass-market that goes to Paul's shows. I believe a companion to Beatles 1 - Solo Beatles 1 is an excellent concept. They may not be the best songs to the aficionados, but I bet it would sell. Someone who wants an overview and takes them back to the day - it works.
