Well, the "Polydor years" were dark ones for the band. Those three are their worst albums, with Sur la Mer being rock bottom. Not much of interest in the bonus tracks either. But as a Moody Blues sucker, I'll probably buy this anyway.

I can't get into it...a few highlights here and there....but overall wasted years for the Moodies....wasted opportunities...they could've been contenders...after the glory of the original /classic 7....this is not good material.

These are weak years, for sure. Not sure they could have been contenders, though. The early '80s were more like a last hurrah, pretty good, not as good as the classic era. This was the "all out of steam" era.

I guess it just boggles my mind why they could not come up with better material...they were on the rise again, very popular on MTV etc...selling out all of their shows/ tours...and Sur La Mer was what they come up with in 89!?!?!?! Sheesh !!!

Sur La Mer isn't very good but it does have some good tunes on it, mainly Justin's. I think Other Side of Life is pretty good aside from a couple tracks. It's 80's synth pop, but good 80's synth pop.

Going by those boxset shots poor Patrick Moraz has been airbrushed out....

I'm not happy with these guys for airbrushing out Patrick Moraz. BIG thumbs down there. So, I'll pass on this set.

By the way, my favorite album from this batch is Sur La Mer by far.

Based on the last two Justin Hayward albums and Timeless Flight I am afraid the sound will be horribly compressed

Mixed feelings on this one. Nice to have the bonus tracks together for once, but as has been said there's nothing really essential.

Disappointed that it doesn't include the Spanish version of Nights In White Satin. I mean, if you're going to include one side of a rare single, you'd surely include them both??

The lack of Patrick Moraz on the artwork is absolutely disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I think that is a fair assessment. I discovered the Moody Blues through "Your Wildest Dreams" and "I Know You're Out There Somewhere". I thought the latter was the best thing ever the year I heard it. Anyway, that got me to the "Nights In White Satin" era. I can understand fans of the early material not liking the later material but since I discovered them in reverse I consider it more of a progression than a regression.

If they'd spent as much time digging up rare material for this set as they did airbrushing out a band member, it'd probably be worth buying.

I'm surprised they did not airbrush out Ray. He did very little those years.

I don't think Ray is on Sur La Mer at all. Not even sure if he's on The Other Side Of Life for that matter.
