Is there a 70’s revival going on?
1. I kept hearing a song for which the intro could have been something from The Sweet. I think “I’m Only Joking” by Kongos.
2. At a recent Black Keys concert, they started a song and I was wondering what 70’s song they were going to cover. It turned out to be Gotta Get Away (which I had only heard a couple times at that point).

 

It's been going on for close to 20 years as I've heard it. It was supposed to pass, but it seems to keep finding its way back on soundtracks and hip-hop.

 

I've been it for over 40 years now.

 

Same comment as everyone else: "yeah, for about 30 years"

 

I think the 70's revival took place specially in the 90's.

We haven't yet abandoned the 90s which is why the 70s revival is still going strong.

The 70s revival started with the Beastie Boys' "Hey Ladies" video in 1989... platforms, bell-bottoms, big hair, disco balls, a '73 Eldorado and a Foghat 8-track. The Black Crowes came around a few months later, and the revival has been on ever since.

 

Actually, there is sorta everything going on at the moment. No specific trend.

 

I thought guitars were on the way out...

That was a joke, of course. I much admire the return to a more basic guitar wallop, it's good for music.
